Parsha Talk

In parshat Nasso, the Leviim are first counted by family, and then the group is summed. The commentators explain that this is akin to a rich man who first goes through his possessions one by one, appreciating each one individually, and then reflecting back on the total of his riches. How might this apply to our life at Beren Academy?

From the desk of the STEAM Lab

This week in STEAM we learned all about the farm: who lives on the farm, how they work together, and what is grown on a farm!
Hablo Español

Middle school students in Mrs. Rosenzweig's Spanish elective had a great time in class reviewing vocabulary, adjectives, and verbs. The students are now conjugating verbs in the present tense and writing full sentences.
Project-Based Learning

Students in Morah Rozie's 4th grade Judaics class are enjoying working on their Torah Fair projects, which address the theme of Kashrut. The students are learning all about various traditions and Jewish laws. Save the date! The lower school Torah Fair will take place on June 14. Stay tuned for additional details.
Cadena Initiative 2021

The international Cadena competition takes place this Sunday starting at 9 AM via Zoom (click here to watch!). We wish our Middle School team comprised of Ari Meckley, Ari Rosenzweig, and Shir Ogorek the best of luck! The students will also participate in a tikkun olam event, where they will be connecting to a vulnerable community in Mexico.
Texture Walls

2nd grade has created a beautiful texture wall out of found objects. They found descriptive words to describe how the objects felt and then used them as inspiration to create differing textures from construction paper. The challenge was to manipulate the paper to visually show different textures.
Busy Bees

Morah Aviva's ECE4 class worked on May self portraits, number books, and the letter “W” for watermelon!
