Update: Yondr Bags at Jefferson
We began Yondr Bag implementation in late October, and we have already begun to see reductions in the number of distractions occurring during the instructional day.
You may recall that Yondr bags are pouches designed to protect cell phones while they are off and away during the instructional day. We recognize that cell phones have become a very important communication device for middle school youth, and asking students to put phones away at school can be a challenge for some. However, we are noticing that our students realize the importance of having a distraction-free learning environment and students are demonstrating a very high-level of responsibility when it comes to cell phone and technology use. We appreciate all of your support as we continue to implement Yondr bags at Jefferson.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are November 12 and 20
We look forward to seeing all parents at Parent-Teacher Conferences this month. Conferences will be held from 7:30am-7:00pm on November 12
th
and 3:25pm-7:00pm on November 20
th
. Parent-Teacher Conferences allow time for parents and teachers to connect to discuss students’ progress. Please know that conferences are scheduled in 15-minute intervals. To assist you with guiding your conversations with teachers during that time, here are some questions that parents generally ask during conferences:

How is my child doing overall in your class?

What unit are you currently teaching and what is the primary learning goal during this unit?
·
What can I do to support my child’s learning at home? What can I do when my child experiences challenges with completing the work?
·
How is my child assessed to determine his/her growth?
·
How is homework handled in your class?
·
What interventions are my child using and how are they identified for these supports?
·
How can the AVID program support my child’s preparation for college, careers and community?
If you have not already signed up for a conference, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange a time. If the times listed do not work, please collaborate with the teacher to arrange another time that is convenient. We look forward to seeing you soon!

- ¿Cómo puede el programa AVID apoyar la preparación de mi hijo para la universidad, las carreras y la comunidad?
Si aún no se ha inscrito en una conferencia, comuníquese con el maestro o el recurso bilingüe para verificar si se le a reservado una cita o para ver la disponibilidad de las citas.
