Hamilton Employers: Is your business affected by the $14 minimum wage?

The above is one of the questions that we are asking the employers who complete our annual EmployerOne survey.

The survey will be live from January 2 - 31, 2019 and is the most efficient way for Hamilton employers of all sizes and sectors to partner with WPH in building a strong workforce and prosperity for themselves and for the community. Our confidential survey is easy to complete and takes about 10 minutes.

By completing this survey, you are eligible to win a free booth at the Connect to Careers Fair on February 5, 2019 (a $600+ value and access to over 2,500 students and recent grads).

Top 3 reasons to do the survey
  • The minimum wage in Ontario increased on January 1, 2018 to $14 an hour. We want to hear how this has affected your business.
  • Are you facing skills shortages that will ultimately affect the ability of your business to grow?
  • With a low unemployment rate in Hamilton finding suitable job candidates seems to be increasingly hard. What are the top skills that you are seeking?

If you’re not already working at one of these companies, you’re probably going to want to start looking into them soon.
“We are seeing more time off for employees to work in the community, more matching funds for their fundraising efforts, more donations in return for employees’ volunteer hours,” says Richard Yerema, Managing Editor at Mediacorp Canada Inc., which manages the competition.

But community involvement wasn’t the only trend visible in this year’s list of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

Anthony Meehan, Publisher at Mediacorp said, “the federal government in late 2017 extended maternity and parental leave to 18 months from one year. Already, two of this year’s winners –
the City of Toronto and Vancity – have updated their policies to include a longer benefit top-up period for employees.”
