CHC Leaders Share Telehealth Successes
Thanks to Dr. Rashad Ali (bottom left), Marilyn Sumerford (top right), John Fairman (top left), and Angel Greer (not pictured) for leading the CHCAMS telehealth forum Thursday, April 9, 2020. The purpose of the forum was to learn how health centers have ramped up provider visits with telehealth, and the types of visits patients can access through the telephone or smartphone and tablet devices. Many health center leaders said behavior health, primary care, OB, and medication management are services offered. They, along with other CHCs leadership, shared how the coronavirus pandemic and fewer policy barriers have helped in providing care in the community health center settings. Janice Sherman (bottom right), CEO of CHCAMS, moderated the discussion.

Congratulations! Mississippi Community Health Centers
Awarded $17.9 million in Supplemental Funds
Congratulations
to the Mississippi Community Health Centers that received supplemental funding from the passage of the CARES Act. Given current financial losses to CHC which have been significant, for some these awards will offset anywhere from 30 days to six weeks of payroll and expenses.
In spite of the overall numbers in the Southeast, Mississippi’s Community Health Centers will have the highest percentage of CHCs with operating deficits as a result of COVID-19 at 87%.

CHCAMS has created and made the following:
1) COVID-19 digests with News and Updates and Training and Techincal Assistance Resources. We will publish it with frequency during the initial response phase of this national emergency.
2) Conference Call Check in on Fridays at 2 p.m. This is a time for CEOs to share, listen, and have comradery with one another.
3) COVID-19 listserve. This listserve is a mechanism for you to share information in writing with one another on an as-needed basis.
4) Information Clearinghouse via a Google Drive link of information that is categorized and can be accessed on an as-needed basis.
5) CHCAMS.org COVID-19 webpage also serves as a resource for those seeking information.

Telehealth Emergency Waiver
. This SPA will assist beneficiaries to receive a wider range of health care services from Mississippi Medicaid enrolled providers without having to travel to a health care facility to reduce the community-spread of the COVID-19 virus or who may need to be self-quarantined for a period of time.

According to the Department of Human Services, a malicious website pretending to be the live map for Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases by Johns Hopkins University is circulating on the internet waiting for unwitting internet users to visit the website.
