“Real Estate is a Noble Field.”
Noble Fields School of Real Estate
Noble Fields School of Real Estate and Appraisal has been an active Daly City Colma Chamber member since 2007. Professor and Director Noble Fields established the school in 1985. The school is approved to operate in the State of California by the Department of Real Estate and the Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers, to provide Real Estate, Sales Agents, Broker, and Appraisal courses. With the Covid-19 pandemic the school offers both virtual and live course instruction with a live teacher.

At 10 years of age, Noble (Lee) Fields, left Oakwood, Texas, traveled with her family, on a Greyhound Bus, to Fresno, California. Noble worked in the Cotton Fields until the age of 18 when she joined the Army. I learned that Noble married at age 25 and divorced her husband as he drank. In 1974 she retired from the U.S. Army with an Honorable Discharge. She studied Law at Lincoln Law School of San Jose and East Bay Law School and graduated with a JD. Noble spoke about her education ending with “I met Dean Brown at East Bay Law school and graduated with a JD!” I learned that Noble is a Motivational Speaker for various High Schools and Colleges, an Annual Speaker at the San Francisco Mints’ February Black History Month; Past President of the California Association of Real Estate Brokers Inc.; President of the California Real Estate Education Association; elected to serve as Vice-President/Recording Secretary-North for California Real Estate Educators. Ms. Fields works with numerous organizations of higher learning for upgrades and developing information. In addition to these and other activities, Noble makes time for the San Francisco School Volunteers.

When I asked Noble to describe an obstacle she faced, she replied, “After 20 years in the United States Army, I never realized what an Obstacle was until I was prevented from dancing with a White guy at the non-commission Officer Club at Fort Mason where I stationed for 6 years. However, this did not deter me from staying in the service. You see that was Law back in the day and it had to be obeyed. My. then boyfriend, raised such a stink on the Post at the Judge Advocate Office, they sent me to Germany for 2 years. Wow, what a time I had. This was 1960 where in Oberammergau Germany the whole little town has a play about the Crucifixion of Jesus which is called “The Passion Play”. It happens every 10 years. The next showing is 2030.”

We then began talking about Real Estate. Noble said, “I fell into real estate, after Army retirement at the Presidio of San Francisco November 21, 1974, with a brass band and all. I got a job with the National Alliance of Businessmen, a federal job getting jobs for Veterans and going on television to interview people who needed jobs.”

She continued, “Then I got into real estate, big time. Made more money a cotton picker ever made. I then started a real estate school, still going strong. The education achieved from Law School afforded me on preparing contracts. I spent money on placing my photo on a billboard and was discovered by the manager of the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco. He wanted me to discuss how I became so successful. You see, when important people see things like a billboard, displaying advertising about a Real Estate School, you had to be successful.

In closing, Noble said, “I will give you an idea of what I believe Success really is. These words were given to be by Lena T. Agurs ‘Success is speaking words of praise.’”

June 15 Should be a State Holiday
By David J. Canepa President of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and represents Daly City and Colma
We now have a definitive date, a definitive timeline for when our economy and our small businesses can come roaring back to life. June 15 will be here before you know it and the announcement in April that all sectors of the economy, in all 58 counties, can reopen at or near full capacity is cause for celebration. I declare it should be a state holiday.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the state’s next step in the COVID-19 pandemic recovery, moving beyond the Blueprint for a Safer Economy and the colored tier system we now live under.

On June 15, the governor said California will fully open its economy if two criteria are met:
  1.  If vaccine supply is sufficient for Californians 16 years and older who wish to be inoculated; and
  2. If hospitalization rates are stable and low.

Keep in mind, San Mateo County was on the verge of going to the Yellow Tier, the first in the Bay Area. It means now that the risk to contract COVID in the county is near minimal and that our hospitalization rates are stable and low.

The state surpassed a major milestone in early April in the fight against COVID — administering more than 20 million vaccine doses, including 4 million in the state’s hardest-hit communities.

In San Mateo County, 333,810 residents were vaccinated by April 9, representing 52 percent of individuals 16 and older. And remember, starting April 15, any individual over 16 years old became eligible to receive the vaccine.
The vaccine is like the “golden ticket” to freedom and we can only have economic health if we have public health.

I credit this effort on not just the mass vaccination sites at the Event Center and SFO the county has hosted but on the new focus to target communities hardest hit by COVID by setting up small walk-up clinics at the Chinese Hospital and Pacelli Center in Daly City, for example.

I’m also very thankful to the volunteers in the “District 5 Ambassadors Program” (pictured above) who have conducted extensive outreach and assisted with the vaccine effort at these smaller pop-up clinics. Together, we have conducted several canvassing efforts in hardest hit ZIP codes to get the word out on getting vaccinated.

With all these efforts in place, someday soon we may no longer have to “wear our damn masks.”
SAN MATEO COUNTY ECONOMY:
From Shelter-in-Place to Vaccination & Recovery
How we tackle the re-opening and recovery will define San Mateo County for years to come. Can we meet the moment? What does this snapshot tell us?
Residents 16 and Over Eligible
but Vaccine Supplies Remain Limited
""All California residents age 16 and older are eligible for COVID-19 vaccines.
This milestone in the fight against the coronavirus, however, comes as vaccine supplies remain limited.

Residents are urged to check for availability and appointments with their health care providers and local pharmacies. California provides a 'VaccineFinder' tool at https://covid19.ca.gov/vaccines/

Residents can also sign up at myturn.ca.gov or call (833) 422-4255 to get a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. If appointments are not available, residents can sign up to be notified when they are.

San Mateo County residents are encouraged to also sign up for the County’s notification tool to receive information about how to make an appointment.
San Mateo County Health continues to focus on small, targeted clinics in communities in need, as vaccine supply remains limited."
