Gear Up For College

September 26, members of the community attended a La Crosse Promise Future Center "Gear Up for College" event designed to help both students and parents understand the college-going process. "It was a nice and informative event," said Advisor Matt Gordy. "There were many questions about scholarship opportunities, ACT, WEF/Career Expo, and everything else in between."  Some f amilies stuck around to address their own specific needs and questions and many took a lot of notes during the session. "We had a lot of fun and there were times when we worked together as a collaborative group to answer questions," said Gordy.

La Crosse Promise Celebrates Third Year of Neighborhood Program

La Crosse Promise has been active in strengthening La Crosse's core neighborhood for three years through a unique Neighborhood Program that ties education dollars to housing. The program first launched in September 2015.

Fourteen new Promise families are now in new or renovated homes. There are eight homes currently under construction-all eligible for $50,000 in education scholarships.

Thank you to all of our Promise families and generous supporters who are committed to the neighborhoods and our program.

Our new street banners are now on display, commemorating the anniversary.  These are located on King Street, between 4th and 5th, and 6th and 7th, and on 4th and 7th between King and Cass. (Photos by Dahli Durley.)
