5 Ways to Help Your Handyman Business Find Success
If you're working hard at running your handyman business and want to find more success, you're not alone. Many successful handyman business owners don't do it all themselves - they have crews that help them with the labor so they can focus on boosting sales and growing the business. Others choose to do the work themselves instead of hiring help. Whichever route you go, take a look at these 5 ways to help your handyman business find greater success.
Purchase a business truck
Hopefully you already have a working vehicle. If not, you need to make sure you have a business truck to hold your tools and equipment. It can be affordable, but should also run well.
Add logos to the truck
When you add logos to your truck, people around town will start to recognize your business and this will help you drum up some new business. Don't underestimate how effective logos can be especially if you stay in a relatively small area when your vehicle is seen by neighbors. Make sure the logos are large and easy to read from a distance.
Advertise
If you have a modest budget - it's ok! Use Craigslist or other free job listing sites. Some areas have neighborhood groups where you can share the services you provide and respond to people who want to hire you. Be aware of your city/state/county laws for unlicensed solicitation, etc. Most laws require a license number to be displayed within the advertisement. Word of Mouth is probably the cheapest and best.
Purchase tools as needed
Don't feel like you must purchase all your tools at the same time. Instead, purchase them as you need them. Check Craigslist for used tools instead of immediately purchasing new ones.
Always answer your phone
Statistics say that the first handyman or handywoman that answers the phone in a professional manner gets 99% of the business. Unless you are truly unable to answer, pick up that phone and greet the person on the other end of the line in a professional manner that includes your business name.
As you strive to help your business find success, use these tips to make your handyman business a lucrative endeavor. Find a solid customer base and the rest is history!

Are your Customers Able to Find You?

Our search requests continue to increase significantly. The new search engine installed in August was indeed what the doctor ordered. This means more and more folks are browsing our directory listings. However, many of you have not updated your listing in a while. In some cases, customers are having difficulties reaching you because of outdated information in your listing. How do we know this? Some of them are calling ACHP. Makes us wonder how many customers are reluctant to go the extra mile thus contacting someone else with a working or displayed phone number, etc.
To fix this problem:
Log in to your member account and:
- Ensure you have access, if not contact us immediately.
- Click on "My Directory Listings" then "Edit". Ensure your information is up to date.
- Enter a city, state, zip code in the display map. If not, the search engine will not be able to find you by zip code search.

Ensure your email and phone number is correct, etc. Add more unique keywords.
