Happy March!
As we look forward to spring, I want to take a moment to highlight some of the amazing people and programs making a difference in our department, at Michigan Medicine, and in our community.
At the end of February,
Katie Pasque and
Melisa Scott hosted a "Postpartum Party" to celebrate with their first successful
Centering Pregnancy group! The 7 healthy moms and babies have formed a wonderful, cohesive group.
Congratulations Katie and Melisa, and thank you for all you do to offer a unique, supportive environment for our patients!
I am incredibly proud of our department's continued impact on national and international medical education.
Maya Hammoud has done a fabulous job leading as the APGO President and representing our department. In addition, Michigan students, residents, and faculty gave
sixteen presentations ranging from workshops, oral abstracts, break-out sessions, videos and plenary sessions at last week's annual APGO/CREOG meeting in New Orleans.
Clearly, our department showcased the LEADERS and BEST!
Finally, I'm excited to share that our department's leadership team just participated in a very productive leadership retreat. Our division directors, service chiefs, associate chairs, the L & D MPlan director, the vice-chair, the residency director, our chief department administrator and I
affirmed our commitment to partnering with each other, faculty, learners and staff to build on our many past successes and to realize our vision for the future.
I look forward to a great year ahead filled with many more accomplishments!

Michigan lawmakers should have heard this testimony...
On December 31, our state's six-year ban on medication abortion via telemedicine is set to expire. At least it was, until two weeks ago, when a Michigan Senate committee heard testimony on SB 1198, a bill to make this medically unsound ban permanent.
