Have your say on the future of town centres
The pandemic has changed our local economy, including how residents shop at many of our retailers, restaurants, and other small businesses. The Council understands the challenges facing local business owners and are inviting you to help shape the future of town centres and high streets.

We have launched a new survey to understand the needs and ambitions of the local community for their town centres. The survey includes an interactive map offering a number of options for providing input, including the ability to click on specific areas of the town centre and provide detailed comments about the area.

We will be holding virtual workshops exploring the community vision for each of the town centres. If you would like to be involved and share you views as a business, please agree to be contacted by the team when submitting your survey response.
Read more about the survey here.

TfL Spotlight Sessions

TfL is hosting a series of webinars giving updates on their restart work to build reassurance amongst London’s business community that the transport network is clean and safe to use. We all need to feel confident to use the public transport system – these webinars should help.

Plans for Chiswick

TfL are making some changes in Chiswick as part of their Streetspace for London programme.

As London continues to emerge from the Coronavirus lockdown, TfL is working in partnership with the Mayor of London and Hounslow Council to support the reopening of the high street, create more space for people to walk and cycle safely, and help improve air quality. The scheme – which will run along Chiswick High Road, Heathfield Terrace and Wellesley Road – is part of this programme. This new route, a temporary version of Cycleway 9, will enable people to cycle between Olympia and Kew Bridge on safer streets for the first time. Construction work on the route is planned to begin on 14 September 2020 and finish by the end of November 2020.

Please click here to see the letter, which will be distributed to just under 8,000 residential and business addresses located within a 250m radius of the scheme on Wednesday, for more details. If you have any questions please let me know.
News from the Club:

The stadium has now been completed and in the last few days a safety certificate has been granted to enable us to host games ‘behind closed doors’ (i.e. with no fans present). A pre-season friendly match took place this week and we have our first competitive match of the season against Wycombe Wanders in the Carabao Cup this Sunday at 12pm. There will only be very limited numbers of people at this match, in line with the current government protocols and our restricted capacity safety certificate. Attendees will include small numbers of staff from both clubs, together with some media, safety and security personnel. The current government guidance currently allows for a limited number of fans to attend football stadia to watch live football matches from October 2020. The Club will need to secure an updated safety certificate in order for this to go ahead at our stadium and we are currently working hard to achieve this.

Good News:
Sunday saw the launch of the Chiswick Flower Market – what a success! Thanks must go to Bridget, Karen and Ollie, who have volunteered their time to help revitalise Chiswick High Road. The sun shone and there were so many smiling faces. To an untutored eye, the hop bines seemed the most popular item and the Suffolk Punch horses from Fullers were a huge draw also. The flower market is on the first Sunday of each month – hope to see you on 4th October
Please see our latest business magazine – Let’s Talk Business. Hard copies will be in the post to all Chamber members. The next issue will be October, if you have any interesting stories/contracts won, please let us know.
