Ready for blast off in 5...4...3...2...1! Everyone can find something at Deschutes Public Library's Summer Reading extravaganza. Stop by any library starting JUNE 15 for a free book and reading log. Every week is filled with fun events, great prizes, and thousands of books from which to choose. Read and Win with Give-aways for All Ages

Great prizes are part of Summer Reading fun! Teens and adults can play weekly trivia to for a chance to win $100 gift cards, and giveaways for kids include puppets, science kits, a family pass to the High Desert Museum, and bikes!
BIG thanks to the Bend Masonic Lodge for their generous contribution of 24 bikes to our Summer Reading Program. This is their fifth year donating bikes, and in total they've given nearly 150 bikes to the library as Summer Reading prizes for kids throughout Deschutes County. Thank you to the Bend Masonic Lodge and all of our sponsors, including Goody's, Papa Murphy's, Alpine Entertainment, The Oregon State Fair, and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Swing Batter--It's Library Night at the Bend Elks!

Batter up! Your library card gets you in for FREE on Library Night at the Bend Elks game on June 25 at Vince Genna Stadium. Simply show your Deschutes Public Library card and you gain free admission. You can win books and prizes, and learn more about the Library's Summer Reading Program. Gates open at 5:30. Join us for a fun night of baseball as the Elks take on the Walla Walla Sweets. Play ball!

Join Us in Space in July for Free Movies at the Tower Theatre
|
Join us for Tuesdays in Space in July at the Tower Theatre as part of the Summer Reading Program. Thanks to generous sponsorships from Roundabout Books and The Tower Theatre Foundation, all Tuesdays in Space movie screenings are free and open to space enthusiasts of all ages! Concessions available for sale and tours of the theatre will be offered after each movie. All movies begin at 11:00 a.m.:

Out-of-This-World Fun at Summer Space Camps
|
Calling young explorers of the unknown! An extraterrestrial being has been spotted lurking around Central Oregon and we must investigate. Did they come in peace? Do they want us for dinner and what is that glowing gloop they sometimes bring? The possibilities are endless and our imaginations can take us anywhere at the fun and free program Aliens, UFOs & Unusual Materials. (For children ages 6-11; younger siblings may observe accompanied by a caregiver.)

Behind the Scenes at Your Library

Have you ever wondered about all the books, DVDs, and more that you see on the shelves of your library---and who is responsible for getting them unpacked, checked in, and sent off to all of our locations? Well, it's in the amazing people in the Tech Services department who are largely to thank! On most days of the week they receive boxes and boxes filled with hundreds of books---it's kind of like opening great birthday presents every day for your job. They work hard and they work fast, and they do it all behind the scenes. Our thanks to Tech Services for all they do!
