From the Mountaintop
Fifty years ago Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. proclaimed, in his final speech before he was assassinated
, that he had been to the mountain top and his "
eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
." For King, he could see the promise of a beloved community where barriers and divisions have been removed and people are in right and just relationship with one another, the natural world, and God. Every time we are invited to the table, God reveals to us a glimpse of the Kingdom and God's eternal promise of liberation and justice for all who enter.
Music Notes
Our anthem for Sunday is an excerpt from a longer anthem by English composer and organist Maurice Greene (1696-1755). The text from Psalm 65 offers a blessing of thanks for a bountiful harvest. Soloist Aaron Lange leads the music with an opening call of thanksgiving. Soloists Nanette Canfield and Merav Eldan also sing of thanks, in an aria from Handel's (1685-1759) oratorio Judas Maccabaeus. "O Lovely Peace" falls at the end of the Biblical drama, extolling peace for the Jewish people from fighting and Roman persecution
Children, Youth, and Families
During Worship:
Igniters (Grades K-5) will leave, following the Time For Young Disciples, for Music and Ministry (10:15-11:15 am). During Worship
Dwellers and Sowers (Middle and High School Youth)
are encouraged fully to participate in worship. Complete the worship reflection and turn it into Kevin for a prize.

Circle Winter Fest Carol Sing

Join us as we consider how to worship fully during this season of Advent.
11:00 am-2:00 pm Cache Christmas Boutique
We need volunteers to work at the Christmas Boutique, as well as to help out on Tuesdays. Join the fun by becoming a Cache volunteer! Also looking for someone who knows how to work the Square® reader must be available from 11:00 am- 2:30 pm. Performing ensembles include Case/University Circle Symphony Orchestra, Church of the Covenant Chancel, Children's and Handbell Choirs, Case Concert Choir, Case Men's Glee Club, and University Chorale, and Cleveland Guitar Orchestra.

As you make plans to join us for the University Circle Winter Fest Carol Sing on Sunday, December 2 at 4 pm, remember to take advantage of RESERVED SEATS for Covenant Members and their guests! We offer reserved seats in our East gallery (near the lectern) so you can avoid the rush of patrons who typically attend this popular event. For additional information or to secure a reserved seat, please contact a member of the music staff or email Matthew Garrett ([email protected]).
Greeters and Ushers needed:
Are you planning to join us for University Circle Winter Fest Carol Sing on Sunday, December 2nd? We are looking for church members to volunteer as greeters and ushers for this event. Please contact Matthew Garrett if you are able and willing to help from 3-5 pm that afternoon ([email protected]).

This Sunday the children will collect food and financial donations for our Covenant Food Pantry, open the last Wednesday and Friday of each month, Thursday afternoons in the Connection Center for students, and for emergencies. The pantry is in need of Spaghettios, pasta sauce,pasta,jelly/jam, peanut butter, chili(not pork & beans), corn-muffin mix, canned veggies, and fruit and pudding cups.
