Time to Vote for IVMA VP! Send in Your Ballot Today!
It's time to for you to choose the next IVMA Vice President! Dr. Brenda Bright of Story City has been nominated for the position by the IVMA VP Nomination Committee.

Executive Board positions in odd number districts are also up for election or reelection this year. If you are in an odd numbered district, your ballot included the Executive Board candidate or incumbent for your district.

Ballots were sent last week by email, or hard copy if we didn't have an email address for you. If you did not receive a ballot from the IVMA, please contact the IVMA office at 800-369-9564 or via email at ivma@iowavma.org .

Ballots are due back to the IVMA office by June 20.

Join the IVMA's Power of Ten Leadership Class!

A new class of POTL is beginning this fall and we want YOU to be part of it! POTL is a leadership opportunity for veterinarians who have been out of school seven years or less.  

POTL participants will attend a series of leadership development sessions from the fall of 2019 until spring 2020. The IVMA will provide topic experts and meeting expenses at no charge for participants. Some CE credits may be available.

SWIVMA Meeting June 26
The Southwest Iowa Veterinary Medical Association will hold a meeting with continuing education on June 26th in Atlantic.

Date: June 26
Time: 8:30-4:30, registration begins at 8:00 am
Location: Cass County Community Center ( map )
Cost: $75/person, includes breakfast and lunch

Register on-site the day of the meeting.

Dr. Vicki Cooper - Disease trends for bovine at the ISU VDL

Nominate for IVMA Awards
It's that time of year to consider nominating a deserving colleague for one of three annual IVMA awards . It is the IVMA's honor and pleasure to recognize members of our association who have made significant contributions to the veterinary profession, their clinic and the animals they care for.

We encourage you to take a moment and ask, "Who has made a difference?" and let us know about that extraordinary person.

The following awards will be given out at the IVMA Annual Meeting in September:

Veterinarian of the Year Award
Rising Star Award
Healthcare Team Member Service Award

Two Candidates for AVMA President-Elect
There are two candidates for the upcoming AVMA President-Elect position, Dr. Gary Brown of West Virginia and Dr. Douglas Kratt of Wisconsin.

The President-Elect is elected by the House of Delegates during their Annual Meeting, held on Friday, August 2, at the AVMA Convention in Washington, DC.

Feline Diabetes Toolkit Available
The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) has released a Diabetes Educational Toolkit for veterinary professionals: catvets.com/diabetes . There are additional resources to help cat caregivers understand and manage their cat’s diabetes at catfriendly.com/diabetes .

This user-friendly Toolkit is a digital resource that puts the most relevant diagnostic and treatment information in the hands of veterinary professionals who are working with clients to make the best decisions for their cat. The Educational Toolkit is intended to be an implementation tool for veterinary professionals to access and gather information quickly. There is also a printable PDF version of each page to make the content easy-to-access in the practice. The entire Toolkit can also be downloaded and printed.
