Wanted: nominations for the 11 th Annual Edie Awards  sponsored by Nicor Gas

We are pleased to announce the Illinois Chamber of Commerce is again teaming up with the Illinois Economic Development Association (IEDA) to present our 11th Annual Economic Development in Illinois Awards known as the 'Edies'. We are thankful to the Edies' generous sponsor Nicor, a company committed to economic development and attracting businesses and investment to Illinois.

For more than a decade, the Edies have honored those who imagine, design, invest, build and bring jobs, growth and prosperity to Illinois communities. The awards showcase business accomplishments that often translate into more jobs and greater economic vitality in our state. The awards are also an opportunity to obtain positive exposure for local businesses and communities that have achieved great things last year.

To showcase great projects completed in 2018 at this year's awards, we need your help.

The Illinois Chamber and IEDA are asking for nominations from across the state for projects completed in 2018. We have a general idea of what's been created throughout Illinois, but business and economic development leaders like you know best what's happening on the ground.

This year we will award two Edies - one from a community in the Chicago Metropolitan area (Cook, DuPage, Dekalb, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties) and one from a community outside the Chicago Metropolitan area. The awards are not just about who created the most jobs or made the largest investment. The projects will be judged based on a mix of quantitative (total private investment, jobs created/retained, average wages) and qualitative (unique contribution, creative public/private partnership, low environmental impact) criteria. The Chamber and the IEDA understand effective projects come in all shapes and sizes and the Edies are designed to recognize projects with an impact in their communities.

Two outstanding economic development projects completed in calendar year 2018 will be given out among the following categories:
  • Manufacturing
  • Distribution/Logistics
  • Commercial
  • Energy
  • Technology
  • Other (projects that helped transform the local economy, but simply don't fit into one category)
The awards will be presented during the Illinois Chamber's annual meeting on Thursday, September 26, 2019  in Chicago. Winners will be notified this summer and invited to the awards banquet to be honored in-person.

Please email complete nominations by 5 p.m. CST on Friday, July 12th to:
