Positive Jobs Report for Maryland Ahead of Our Economic Forecast Breakfast

We are just one week away from our 2018 Economic Forecast Breakfast featuring Economist Anirban Basu! Basu will cover all of the economic factors that will determine your business' bottom line in 2019, but before he takes the stage, there is positive news for Maryland in the most recent jobs report. Between September and October, Maryland added a substantial increase of 10,700 nonfarm positions, including 9,000 total private jobs and 1,700 government jobs.

Howard County Library System Earns Five Star Recognition

Congratulations to the Howard County Library System (HCLS) for being designated once again as a Five Star Library by the Library Journal.

Chamber President Tapped for County Executive-Elect's Economic Development Transition Team

Chamber President Leonardo McClarty has been named to County Executive-Elect Calvin Ball's Economic Development Transition Committee along with other business community leaders.

Public Hearing Scheduled for Local Bills

The Howard County Delegation of the Maryland General Assembly, chaired by Senator Guy Guzzone and Delegate Terri Hill, will hear testimony from the public on drafted local bills. No testimony on other issues will be permitted as a second hearing devoted to statewide bills will be scheduled. 
 
Any individual may testify for up to 3 minutes, as long as they are signed up.  Signup will begin at 7:00pm in the Banneker Room and will close at 7:20pm.  Advance sign up is not available.  The Delegation encourages you to bring written copies of your testimony (preferably 15) to distribute to us, though it is not a requirement to speak.  The hearing is scheduled as follows:

MD Chamber Gathering Information to Work for Solutions to Hardships Caused by Tariff Actions

The Maryland Chamber has been working with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to gather information to work toward solutions to mitigate the financial hardship for businesses affected by ongoing tariff actions between the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
