County Executive delivers budget address online
New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer delivered his budget address to the County Council and citizens Tuesday evening. Council and the County Executive used the digital meeting platform Zoom to coordinate the address from different locations across New Castle County in order to maintain social distancing guidelines. NCCPD adds 14 new officers at modified graduation ceremony
The New Castle County Police Department added 14 new officers to their ranks during a modified graduation ceremony at the New Castle County Public Safety Building on Thursday afternoon, March 26th. Non-NCCPD officers graduating in the 46th New Castle County Police Academy class held separate ceremonies with their own departments across Delaware. Graduates and staff maintained social distancing guidelines throughout the ceremony to keep officers safe. To see video of the ceremony CLICK HERE .
County unveils Wi-Fi hotspots for the public in need of access
New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer, in partnership with Verizon and Assurance Media, Cisco-Meraki and the New Castle County Information Systems and Public Works departments, launched complimentary wi-fi hotspots in eight locations for County residents starting today. Efforts began last Saturday, March 21, and in just over a week, these hot spots were up and running. Wi-Fi users are instructed to remain inside their vehicles while using the hot spots. Brandywine Springs Park offers a walking history tour
While recreational equipment at Brandywine Springs Park is closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the trails around the park remain open and provide a great opportunity to get outdoors and learn about the amusement park that used to fill the park. Park visitors are reminded to keep social distance between themselves and others in the park, keeping at least six feet between groups. Basketball courts also remain closed at the park to prevent spread of COVID-19 during the pandemic. To see the history of Brandywine Springs, CLICK HERE .
