ALLIANCE FOR CHILDREN WELCOMES NEW BOARD

Alliance for Children welcomed five new board members; Josh Francis, Angelia James, Dennis Joyner, Ashley McBride, and Cheryl Neely to the first 2018-2019 board meeting of the year on September 26th. Kim Sandoval, Program Director gave a brief overview of the programs that we provide to children in areas of health, education and family support.

NC EARLY EDUCATION COALITION AWARDS GRANT
Alliance for Children is the recipient of one of eight grants awarded across the state for advancing public awareness and policy solutions addressing issues facing infants and toddlers through the NC Early Education Coalition.

Under the Trademark THINK BABIES™ funded by ZERO TO THREE, Alliance for Children will create an awareness campaign from October to March incorporating parents, grandparents, childcare providers, early educators, business owners, and policy makers to provide an understanding of the importance of children birth to age three.

BRIGHT BLESSINGS SUPPORTS NC PRE-K 
Bright Blessings, a Matthews non-profit agency has generously provided literacy kits for all 350 Union County NC Pre-K students since 2015.   
"We are so grateful for Bright Blessings partnership in building home libraries for our students," says Suzanne Walters, NC Pre-K Program Administrator at the Alliance for Children.

NC Pre-K in Union County is still welcoming applications for waiting list placement in the 2018-19 school year. For eligibility, applications and details, visit: https://theallianceforchildren.org/nc-pre-k/. For placement this year, children who were four August 31, 2018 and the family must be income eligible.
 
For the 2019-20 school year, we will welcome applications for children who are four by August 31, 2019 beginning in late January 2019.
