N ew requirement for starting social media accounts representing the campus

The marketing and communications office has been updating the social media strategy for K-State Polytechnic and one of the new strategic initiatives is implementing a process for anyone who wants to start a social media account representing the campus.

Moving forward, if your office, degree option, club or organization would like to create a social account, including on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, or YouTube, we ask that you complete the New Social Media Account Worksheet  found here . This worksheet will help you understand what it takes to create and maintain a successful page and continuously engage with your audience. It also will provide insight as to whether creating a social account is the best platform for your desired result. 

Once you have filled out the worksheet, please submit it to [email protected]. Someone from marketing and communications will review your request and then will reach out to you with recommendations. Please know that we understand your sense of urgency when creating an account, so the review process is quick. Human Capital Services analyst hired

Dennis Stugelmeyer, director of Fiscal Services, has announced the appointment of a new analyst in Human Capital Services for the Polytechnic Campus. Audrey Mortimer began her position on June 10 and her office is located in Fiscal Services Suite 209D in the College Center.

Previously, Audrey worked at the Central Care Cancer Center where she was the human resources representative for 12 clinics throughout Kansas and Missouri and was involved in all aspects of HR functions. Before that, Audrey worked for nearly six years on the Manhattan campus in both Housing and Dining and for the College of Agriculture in their HR departments. Audrey is a K-State alumna and majored in human resource management and general business management.

Help with campus planting by r egistering for Green Action Day

K-State Polytechnic is hosting Green Action Day, an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to come together and help beautify the campus. On Thursday, June 20, volunteers will renovate and replant the garden space on the south side of the College Center. If you're interested in helping, contact Beth Drescher to sign up at [email protected]. Green Action Day will start at 9 a.m. and lunch is provided.

Aviation Students

The Eugene S. Kropf scholarship is a $500 award available to students enrolled in an aviation-related curriculum. Must have a 3.0 or high GPA. Deadline:  June 15, 2019 .  Apply Here

The Joseph Frasca Excellence in Aviation scholarship is a $1,000 award. Must be a junior or senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Deadline:  June 30, 2019 .  Apply Here

The Paul A. Whelan Aviation scholarship is open to students enrolled in an aviation major. Award amount is $2,000. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Deadline:  June 30, 2019 .  Apply Here

Employee Tuition Assistance

Award amount is for tuition only in a K-State course for up to 3 credit hours per term. The maximum award amount will not exceed the value of 3 hours at the in-state Manhattan/Salina tuition rate (ie. campus fees, other institutional fees, etc. are the responsibility of the employee).

Dependent/Spouse Grants

Only regular employees are eligible. If you are unsure if you are regular or term, check your contract or with the HR office. This grant is available for fall 2019 and spring 2020, but not in the summer. Apply Here

For dependents or spouses that are enrolled full time in a degree terminating undergraduate program, the award will be the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 7 undergraduate course credits, where full-time for an undergraduate is defined as at least 12 enrolled credit hours per regular fall/spring term.

For spouses that are enrolled part time in a degree terminating undergraduate program the maximum award will be the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 3 undergraduate course credits, where part time for an undergraduate is defined as less than 12 enrolled credit hours per regular fall/spring term. (Enrollment of less than 3 credit hours, will result in the proration of the award i.e. 2 credit hours enrolled = the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 2 credit hours - or - 1 credit hour enrolled = the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 1 credit hour. )

Dependents that are enrolled less than full-time in an undergraduate program are not eligible for the K-State Dependent/Spouse Grant.

For dependents or spouses who are enrolled in a degree terminating graduate or veterinary medicine program the maximum award will be the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 3 course credit hours as indicated by the student's degree program, graduate or veterinary medicine. (Enrollment of less than 3 credit hours, will result in the proration of the award i.e. 2 credit hours enrolled = the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 2 credit hours - or - 1 credit hour enrolled = the equivalent of the regular, resident on-campus tuition rate for 1 credit hour.)
