Property Tax Proposal
Public Hearings - First One is Monday!
Mayor Turner has proposed increasing the property tax rate in the City of Houston to offset the costs associated with recovery efforts after Harvey. More info on the tax rate can be found here . Three public hearings to be held in the City Council Chamber have been scheduled for concerned citizens to voice their opinions:
  • 6 pm, Monday, September 25, 2017
  • 6 pm, Monday, October 2, 2017
  • 9 am, Wednesday, October 11, 2017
Apply for Assistance At The
Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fair
The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management invites residents affected by Hurricane Harvey to a recovery fair  this weekend  at HCC Northeast. Non-profits and governmental agencies will be offering assistance. Reps from FEMA and the Small Business Admin (SBA) will be available to answer questions and help residents apply for disaster assistance. Bring Fresh Farm Produce To Families of Ninfa Laurenzo Early Childhood Ctr.
Finca Tres Robles is earmarking a percentage of produce this fall to go to 10 families at Ninfa Laurenzo in the 2nd Ward, free of charge. They are looking for Community Sponsors to provide these shares - click here for more info.
Houston Disaster Recovery Summit
Click here to register for a Recovery Summit scheduled for Monday, September 25th from 9 am - 4 pm at the Student Center on the U of H campus. The Summit will be have the following:
  • Contracting and procurement fair
  • Disaster Assistance Zone
  • Resource Workshops
Transportation Difficulty Post-Harvey?
Houston Bike Share's "Keep Houston Rolling" program is placing bikes in the hands of people that have lost a vehicle, been relocated, or otherwise face transportation difficulties after Harvey. Apply here for a response within 48 hrs!
