Independence Heights: Fish Fry Fundraiser July 21st
Booker T. Washington High School is celebrating their 125th anniversary. A fundraiser benefiting celebration events this fall is scheduled for this Saturday, July 21st from 10 am to 3 pm at 4423 Yale street at E. Whitney Street. Blood Drive July 22nd
Casa de Amigos and other Harris Health System facilities are being considered for capital projects over the next 18 to 36 months. In order to assist them in considering options that best meet the community's needs, Harris Health is conducting a public town hall meeting on August 1, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Moody Community Center located at 3725 Fulton Street . Take some time to save a life and donate blood at the Resurrection Catholic Church Blood Drive! For every blood donation, a $10 contribution will be made to the Youth Group to fund missions, charities, church camp, special projects, youth group activities and more. If your family's first language is Spanish, you are invited to attend the Children's Museum's Para Los Niños program at Carnegie Library later this month. The program consists of a workshop providing parents with a model of how and what to read to a child, hands-on activities easily replicated at home, info on free resources, and free passes to the Children's Museum of Houston. It's that time again! Register your children here for the Mayor's Back to School Fest in order to take advantage of free backpacks, school supplies, health screenings, immunizations, and social service resources. The Houston Public Library (HPL) is calling all teen graphic artist between the ages of 11 and 18 to enter its Get Graphic: Amateur Comic Creation Contest. If they’re into creating comic style short stories then here’s their chance to show-off their great talent! Teens must enter their creations by 8/31/18.  Prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners.
