All registered voters in Fairfax County and City may vote in this primary. Remember that we do not register by political party in Virginia, so all primaries are open to any registered voter.

Only the Democratic Party will have candidates in this primary. The Republicans and Libertarians are not holding primaries to select their candidates this year; they have nomination meetings, sometimes called caucuses or firehouses.
Independent candidates have until June 11, 2019, to file for the election in November.
School Board members run with no party affiliation, so those offices never appear on any ballot. The school board will appear on the ballot in November.
County-Wide and City-Wide Races
The only county-wide races are for Commonwealth's Attorney and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
Note that the Commonwealth's Attorney serves both Fairfax County and Fairfax City.
In the fall of 2019, the entire General Assembly will be on the ballot. There are a few races with primaries this June. In other cases, candidates are running unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
