Here is an update of what is happening at
House of Prayer this week!
Worship This Sunday
Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here." John 18:36

This Sunday is Christ the King, which is the culmination of the church year and focuses on the present and future reign of Christ. Each time we pray the Lord's prayer we ask for God's will to be done on earth as it already is in heaven. This prayer is seeking God to close the gap between the kingdom of the world (how we are now) and the Kingdom of God (how we will be). This prayer is not asking for God to end the world, rather God's kingdom, or God's ways, might reign in our world today. God's kingdom is one where love prevails over hate, mercy reigns over punishment, and grace provides enough for all. Join us Sunday as we celebrate God's Kingdom reality in the present and future!

Associate Pastor Forum
Thank you to those who attended the forum between services last Sunday. The LMT appreciated the discussion about the possibility of calling an Associate Pastor to House of Prayer. If you would still like to submit comments or ask questions, please contact President, Scott Wright ( [email protected]), HR Chair, Monica Dorow ( [email protected]), or Treasurer, Charley Simonson ( [email protected]). The LMT will meet on Tuesday, December 4 to discuss feedback from the congregation.
Let's Visit!
Would you like a visitor from one of our pastoral staff members? While we often hear of needs within the congregation, sometimes we are unaware of the needs within our family of faith. Pastor Ben or Minister Kelly would be happy to visit any of our members or friends who would like a pastoral visit. These visits could be health related but could be for any reason. Contact the church office via telephone 612-866-8471 or Pastor Ben via email [email protected].

Save the Dates for Summer 2019
Festival of Carols
Sunday December 16 is also the annual Festival of Carols service. It will be slightly different this year as it will be held at 9:30am, essentially serving as the 9:30 service that morning. It will feature the spectacular pageantry and reverent "awe" as the afternoon version of past years. HOP members who have not been able to attend in the afternoon in past years, have a chance to take in what is truly a grand and very worshipful tradition in celebrating the coming, birth and life of our Lord and Savior .
Advent Candle Lighting
At the start of both worship services in the Advent season (Dec. 2 - Dec. 23), we will be lighting a candles on the Advent wreath in the sanctuary and at the ReFuel service. We would like to have this done by a different family or group of people each week. There is also a speaking part that accompanies the candle-lighting. Each week's group can be as few or as many people as sign up for that week. Instruction will be provided during the week leading up to your Sunday. Sign up at the information desk or contact Phil Mennicke or Pastor Ben with questions.
