Bellaire vs Westbury
District play begins for varsity football! They kick off tonight against Westbury at 7:00pm at Butler Stadium. Come out and support football, cheer, the Belles, the Mighty Cardinal Band, the Birdkeepers and Booster Club! #CardinalProud.
Bellaire vs Carnegie
The Lady Cardinals take on Carnegie tonight at 6:30pm at Butler Fieldhouse. Everyone is encouraged to come out, wear red and cheer them on! Looking for another game, check out the schedule here. #CardinalProud
Win tickets to Ed Sheeran's Houston show!
Join the Bellaire Orchestra at their Fall Concert on Oct. 2 for a chance to participate in a silent auction that includes tickets to Ed Sheeran's November 3 Houston show. Other items include Astros tickets, a quartet performance for a special event, and a chance to conduct a piece on the Spring Concert. Bidding will start at 6pm, and will be suspended during the concert, which starts at 6:30pm. At the conclusion of the concert, bidding will resume, and the auction will end at 7:45pm. You must be 18+ years old to bid.

9th Grade Students to Meet with Counselors
The Counselors will be in the classroom giving a 9th grade Guidance Lesson the week of October 1-4. As part of the lesson, students will be working on their Personal Graduation Plans (PGP) which will need to be signed by the parent/guardian. Please discuss the Personal Graduation Plan (PGP) with your student and acknowledge your approval by signing the bottom of the Personal Graduation Plan (PGP) form. Volunteering at Bellaire High School
On August 1, 2018, HISD replaced the old VIPS system with RAPTOR to manage volunteer registration, background approval, and the volunteer management process. ALL volunteers will need to register at this link.   Each time you come to school, you will need to show your Driver's License or ID at the front desk in the main office to sign in. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Mulet in the library or email her at [email protected].  

Close Up Washington
This year's Close Up trip to Washington DC will be February 24-March 1! Interested students should attend an informational meeting during Cardinal Hour (Red block) on Wednesday, September 26 in room 337. Financial aid is available! Free SAT and PSAT Tutorials
Want to improve your test scores for the SAT and PSAT? Ms. Chopra and Mr. Wolf will be holding SAT/PSAT prep classes after school, during 8th period, beginning the week of September 17th. Mr. Wolf will hold classes (verbal) in room 353 after school Wednesdays. Mrs. Chopra will hold classes (math) in room 186 after school Thursdays. Contact Mr. Wolf, Ms. Chopra, or Ms. Mulet for more details.
Mock PSAT
There will also be a free Mock PSAT at Bellaire  Saturday, September 29th, in the cafeteria at 8:00 A.M. For both tests, check-in begins at 7:30 A.M.. You should bring your own calculator for the test.  Preregistration is required to take the PSAT.  If you have any questions, please see Ms, Mulet in the library.

FAFSA opens Monday, October 1st!

  • Make it Monday: Make your FSA ID
  • TASFA Tuesday: Get assistance with TASFA from 2:15 to 4:30 p.m. This is the application for state financial aid for undocumented students.
  • Wednesday Lunch 'N Learn: Join us for lunch in the auditorium as we go in depth about all the different types of financial aid available.
  • Thursday FAFSA Roadshow: Get assistance with FAFSA from 2:15 to 4:30 p.m.
 
The registration deadline for the November 3rd SAT is Friday, October 5th.
 
College Fair is Wednesday, October 10th!
Come visit with 200 plus colleges from across the country. This is open to all grade levels and families.

Level Changes: 
Level Change Window: September 19, 2018-October 5, 2018 
(Example- A student wants to drop Pre-AP World Geography and add Academic World Geography.) 

No level changes will occur in the first 3 weeks of school, with exceptions listed below. Once the level change window is open, changes can occur until the end of the first six weeks. 

There will be no level changes the days teachers are verifying grades for the first six weeks. Students are still able to turn in the level change form during that time and it will be applied to the second six weeks, once grades are published. 

Exceptions: 
1. The incorrect level was placed onto your schedule. (You did not request the level.) 
2. You are a new student to BHS (any grade level) in the 2018-2019 school year. 
3. If a student is recommended to move up a level, parent approval is required. 
4. If in 9th grade, to be considered for a level change after October 5th, it must be reviewed and approved by a committee consisting of the Counselor, AP, and teacher.

BHS Triathlon Club
The Bellaire Triathlon Team participated in their first team event this past Sunday at the Katy Triathlon.  It's not too late to join, go to Room 327 on Thursdays immediately after 7th period.  


Fourteen for Teens Annual 14k & 5K Trail Run
We are proud to host the Eighth Annual fourteenforteens 14k and 5k trail run, Saturday, November 3rd, at TC Jester Park. Our program prides itself on hard work, service and respect. In honoring these core values, we are privileged to give back a portion of our proceeds to area charities. We hope to see as many runners as possible come out and run for such a worthy purpose. However, if you cannot participate in the run, please consider volunteering and/or making a donation. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly regarding any race specific questions or with regard to how you can get involved.
