Advocating for medical training and patient care in a Francophone environment
From the Ontario College of Family Physicians
A well-regarded leader in Francophone medical education,
Dr. Lyne Pitre
has had a significant impact on the Ontario health system. Dr. Pitre was one of the first preceptors of the University of Ottawa’s Family Medicine residency program at the Hôpital Montfort site, the only Francophone program of its kind in Ontario, and was the program director for 22 years. Dr. Pitre is the recipient of the 2018 Regional Family Physician of the Year and the 2018 CFPC Scholarly Work in Family Medicine Education Grant.

The Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) has named
Dr. Dieter Poenn
of Little Current, Ontario, the 2018 Reg L. Perkin Family Physician of the Year
.
Dr. Poenn has been an associate clinical professor of family medicine at the University of Ottawa since 1997 and an assistant professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine since 2005.

The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa is working on the establishment of the
Ottawa Practice Enhancement Network (OPEN). OPEN is a participatory consortium of primary care practices in the Champlain LHIN region that involve patients and health planners in quality improvement (QI) initiatives. Find out more about this exciting project.
