Thy Kingdom come, on Earth as it is in Heaven

This week at St. Columba's ... This Sunday, I’ll be kicking off a three-part preaching series – “Are We There Yet? Living with Hope.” Hope is lived in the tension between “things as they are” and “things as we believe they could be.” What heavenward choices can we make to participate in God’s promise? With renewal of our Baptismal vows and a special remembrance of loved ones gone before, the feast of All Saints’ gives a vision of the whole span of life in Christ. At 11:15 in the Nave, the St. Columba Singers offers John Rutter's luminous  Requiem  as a fitting meditation on death and resurrection. B y the Rev. Ledlie Laughlin.

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS Sun., Nov. 4, at 2 am. Be sure to turn your clocks back on Saturday night and enjoy that extra hour of sleep. It is also the perfect time to replace batteries in your household smoke alarms.

Our regular schedule of worship with Eucharist offers services at 8, 9 and 11:15 am in the Church Nave, and Eucharist at 9:15 and 11:15 am for young children and their families in the Great Hall. Come worship with us!
We invite you also to our weekly Sunday Forum , featuring presentations that stimulate our imagination about living the Christian life in this community, and in today’s changing world.

Remembering Loved Ones
On All Saints Sunday, Nov. 4, we will pray for all those we love but see no longer at services in the Church Nave. To remember loved ones, please complete a Remembrance Card and place it in the basket near the St. Columba icon at the entry of the church, or bring to any service in the Church Nave on Sunday, Nov. 4.

At the 11:15 am service, the St. Columba Singers will celebrate the Feast of All Saints by presenting John Rutter's Requiem with organ and instrumental ensemble. Written in honor of his late father, this setting of the Requiem uses a mixture of Latin and English texts paraphrased by Rutter.

Special Remembering Service
Come on Fri., Nov. 2, the Feast of All Faithful Departed, to a 6:30 pm candlelit gathering in St. Aidan's Chapel to remember those who have died this past year. We will begin and end with prayer; any who wish to speak about those who have died are welcome to do so or to keep silent in reflection. Please join us if you have lost someone to death for this ancient Christian remembrance service. Contact: Susan Flanders

How Do You Give Thanks With Christ?
Good news! Many of you are showing your gratitude for St. Columba’s by pledging, bringing us to 65% our goal. Here’s what we need to fully fund our budget next year:

  1. I f you pledged last year, please pledge again soon. A significant increase (more than 6%) in your pledge dollars would go a long way to meeting our goal. Contact Bronwyn Roy with questions.
  2. New pledgers are critical. The average pledge this year has been around $4,000, but consider what works best for your household. Every pledge counts. This proportional giving worksheet can help you figure out the amount to pledge.

Drop off your pledge card in the collection plate, at the Annual Pledge Campaign table in the Common, or   pledge online Thank you for helping us reach our goal by November 11 th

Families come in all shapes and sizes and this includes single parent families! Interested in coming or learning more about the potluck? Please be in touch with Linda Allison Haslach or Amy Molina Moore. It would be good to have a head count by November 13. Emails:  lindahaslach@gmail.com  and amolinamoore@columba.org
