Remembrance: Honoring the life of late Haven Harbour South slipholder Charles "Chuck" Boutin
|
Charles "Chuck" Boutin, Haven Harbour South slipholder and longtime Sailing Emporium customer before that, passed away last Sunday, May 23.
A graduate of Sienna College and the University of Baltimore, Chuck worked in a private law practice as an attorney for many years and retired as an Administrative Law Judge in 2012. Charles was past president of the Harford County Board of Education, former Mayor of Aberdeen and served in the House of Delegates from 1998-2006 where he was instrumental in the creation and establishment of Ripken Stadium. He also served on the Public Service Commission from 2005-2007.
Chuck was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and boating. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends, especially being with his wife Cindy on their sailboat "Maine Way" here in Rock Hall.
In addition to his loving wife of 45 years, Chuck is survived by his sons, Matthew and wife Kathryn, Scott and wife Andrea, and Chad; as well as grandchildren Jack, Wesley, Alexandra, Cooper and Brooks.
"Thank you to all who have reached out at this very difficult time," said wife Cindy. "Your kind words, memories of Chuck and inspirational thoughts are appreciated more than you know. No words could ever express the devastation of such sudden and tragic loss. We are forever grateful for our Haven Harbour family."
"Peter and I have had the pleasure of being Chuck and Cindy’s good friends and boat neighbors," said fellow slipholder Carla Pianka. "Rock Hall was his happy place. His endless stories and jokes, as well as his distinguished presence will be forever missed. He will always have a seat in the gazebo at the marina and a place in our hearts."
A viewing will be held next Saturday, June 5 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the McComas Celebration of Life Center located at 1114 Baldwin Mill Road, Jarrettsville, Md. Services will follow at 4:00 p.m. Read the obituary. Featured photo courtesy of The Baltimore Sun.

On the Radar: The Haven Yacht Club's opening day, festivities for new season
|
The Haven Yacht Club will be having their opening day and flag raising ceremony next Saturday, June 5.
A time-honored tradition for the club, members assemble at Haven Harbour Marina's Reception Center each year, dressed in white, to catch-up with one another, meet new members and hear introductory remarks from the group's commodore, Robin Pomeroy, who is now in her third year in that role.
As in previous years, beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres will be provided complimentary by The Haven Yacht Club, but all THYC members are kindly asked to bring along a dish for at least 12 to share. Slipholders of Haven Harbour Marina and Haven Harbour South are welcome to join in on the festivities, as it is the club's desire to ensure that everyone knows what the organization stands for and what the social agenda will be for the coming year.
