Snowlion Rep is
Theater
Made in Maine

Our most heartfelt thanks go to our loyal supporters who attended our FIRST EVER FUNDRAISER or who donated food and wine or who bid on our silent art auction or who just sent a generous donation to help us achieve our goals this season.

Theater is an ephemeral thing, a huge production involving hundreds - actors, designers, staff, and audience - all here one moment, gone the next.  But the unwavering support of our Snowlion Rep family goes on and on - we are humbly grateful for all you do for us.  THANK YOU!

Sincerely,

Al D'Andrea, Artistic Director

News from SNOWLION REP'S
FIRST EVER FUNDRAISER!

On Friday December 7, Snowlion Rep hosted a benefit to raise funds for the upcoming season, which will include the new musical Mesmerized

Portland Ballet Studio Theater was festively decorated with food and drink, artwork from prominent New England artists (for the silent auction), and beautiful people!

Theater luminaries and other VIPs from the community attended in force!

Friends of Snowlion Rep and loyal audience members came to show their support, including Number One Fan (and dedicated supporter) Jane Burdick, who has seen every production!

Snowlion Rep actors made a show of force!

Everyone had a great time!

The Portland Press Herald published an enormous, front page, above-the-fold article about the benefit, the play that was presented ( My Witch: The Margaret Hamilton Stories), and also about Hamilton Meserve, Margaret's son, who lives today on Southport Island in Maine!

Best of all, Hamilton himself and his wife Helen came to the show and enjoyed it tremendously!

The whole thing was a huge success.  Thank you, John Ahlin (playwright) and Jean Tafler (actress) for providing the amazing and heartfelt performance of My Witch: The Margaret Hamilton Stories, all about the world's most famous witch and her life in Hollywood and Maine!

And THANK YOU to all who attended, who laughed and partied and bid and donated and showed the love for live theater that makes this the best theater town in the world!

UP NEXT:
Mesmerized
A World Premiere Musical

Snowlion Rep will be presenting a world premiere musical as the feature show of the upcoming season  -
Mesmerized
(by Al D'Andrea, MK Wolfe, and Darryl Curry).
A  concert  performance of this new musical was seen at the first PortFringe,  and the New Maine Times  called it

"a triumphant night of theater"

The amazing and infamous Dr. Mesmer (Alan Forrest McLucas) treats the Countess with a dose of "animal magnetism"  (from the PortFringe concert performance)

Set in 1777 Vienna, Mesmerized
is the true story of Dr. Anton Mesmer, now regarded as the father of modern hypnosis, and the scandal that erupted when he restored the sight of the young blind prodigy pianist Theresa Paradies using t he radical curative technique and invisible force he called "animal magnetism."

The show plunges the audience into Mesmer's world at the dawn of the Age of Reason, populated with characters including Mozart, Benjamin Franklin, the Queen Empress of the Holy Roman Empire, and others - all 100% true encounters had by the infamous doctor, presented in dramatic musical theater format (with an ample dose of humor throughout).

The show will be presented at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater May 3-12, 2019.

Mark your calendars for a musical journey back to the 18th Century, in a show that crackles with an "Invisible Fire" (which is what Mesmer called the power he harnessed to effect his cures).
