Be thankful for polka!

Start the thankfulness tonight at Sefcik Hall for the annual Pre-Thanksgiving Polka Party with the Praha Brothers. Resume polka action on Friday with Chris Rybak at the Texas Ren Fest (He's there Saturday and Sunday, too!). Continue Saturday with the Czechaholics at Moravia Store for the band's 16th anniversary. Complete the weekend on Sunday at the KULP Polka Fest at Taiton Community Center with the Red Ravens.

Tis the season for special musical events: Friday - Tree lighting in Fredericksburg with the TubaMeisters...Dinner and a Christmas Show with Das Ist Lustig at Rudi Lechner's in Houston (they're there Saturday, too!). Saturday - Christkindlmarkt in Hallettsville featuring the TubaMeisters.

If you plan to attend the Country Christmas dance at Lodge 88 in Houston on Dec. 1, you need to get your tickets by this Mon., Nov. 26. Click here to reserve your tickets.

Justin also tells the story of the Elvis TV Comeback Special celebrating 50 years this December. Texas Folklife seeks participants for its 2019 Apprenticeship Program

Texas Folklife has made the 2019 application for the Apprenticeships in the Folk & Traditional Arts Program available to the public at
texasfolklife.org/apprenticeships
 
Program guidelines, a video overview of the program, and additional information are available through this link on the Texas Folklife website. The postmark deadline for applications is Monday, November 26, 2018, at 5:00 p.m.
 
Texas Folklife's Apprenticeships in the Folk Arts program provides awards of up to $2,500 for master artists to train qualified apprentices. The apprenticeship program allows an apprentice to improve and refine their craft under the direction of an experienced master artist over a period of several months. This provides the opportunity for the apprentice to continue his or her craft at a higher level, and, in turn, teach to others.
