Solano I-80 Managed Lanes Project

Solano Transportation Authority (STA) is working with Caltrans District IV and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) to alleviate major congestion on I-80 in Solano County. The Solano I-80 Managed Lanes Project will construct 10 miles of new managed lanes (one additional lane in each direction) between Airbase Parkway and I-505 and convert 8 miles of existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to create 18 miles of managed lanes from Red Top Road to I-505. This project supports the current and planned service improvements to SolanoExpress regional bus service on I-80. Additionally, the project will improve reliable travel times for express and intercity bus, carpool and vanpool users, commuters, travelers, and goods movement. The project has been environmentally cleared and designed by STA and Caltrans and is ready for construction. STA will be requesting competitive Senate Bill 1 (SB1) “Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017” funds for construction in 2020.
