Come In At Christmas
December 2, 2018
First Sunday in Advent

Family Advent Celebration
Come out on the First Sunday of Advent to kick off the season! The day begins at 9:00 am with a new Advent-themed class led by Rev. Dr. Scott Moncrieff and Sue Moncrieff entitled “Because of Bethlehem.”

Worship* at 10:00 am will feature some of our amazing young people and includes Communion.

We will also collect your gifts of toys and socks at this service. This year, please leave the socks in their packages; (no pins) and we will put them under the chancel tree (not on it). The socks and toys will be given to RCS for distribution to the children of the families for which it provides services.

After church we’re having a celebration in Chapel Hall (for our WHOLE CHURCH FAMILY, not just kids with parents). Santa will make his annual appearance and lunch will be served. Please sign up in Friendship Foyer so we plan properly.

We will need everyone’s help after lunch as we make Chrismons to hang on our chancel Chrismon tree! (Yes, that’s spelled correctly! “Chrismons” are Christmas ornaments with Christian symbols on them.).

*Our sermon series for the Advent season will explore the theme, “Through Mary’s Eyes.” During the four Sundays of Advent, we’ll consider a different part of young Mary’s story, from the time she received the startling news from the angel to the night she gave birth to Jesus. To accompany us on this journey, we will have Advent devotional guides with readings for every day. Pick one up in the Friendship Foyer (suggested donation: $5) or you can buy the Kindle version. "I Am Mary" by Carol Howard Merritt is available on Amazon or   chalicepress.com .

This will be a very special day. Please plan to join the festivities!
