Downtown Trick or Treat
Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls will be stalking downtown Burlington again for Trick or Treat on Friday, October 26 from 4 to 6 PM. This event is a huge draw and a wonderful goodwill gesture to area children and families. Last year's Trick or Treat drew record crowds; with good weather, we can expect well over 1000 costumed kids! Thanks to all those business owners who welcome them.

The Latest News...
  • Another season has come and gone for the Jefferson St. Farmers Market - how is that possible? The market accomplishes so much: promoting healthy eating and lifestyle choices, empowering entrepreneurs, strengthening local economic and environmental sustainability, acting as a business incubator, supporting downtown merchants, and providing social and cultural activity downtown all summer long. Many thanks to market manager Rachel Lindeen, the volunteers who helped with the cones and barricades, our great vendors, and especially presenting sponsor Two Rivers Bank & Trust for their support.
  • The insurance company has released the Tama site to the developer. His top priorities are to clean up the site and get the fence moved back so the streets are open again and to get a structural engineer to plan for temporary shoring for the structure. Everyone is looking forward to having the issues addressed.
  • The Sixth and Washington public parking lot, formerly in poor condition, has been completely redone and is now open. Paid parking is just $2 a day, and evenings and weekends are FREE. New directional signage has been ordered for the downtown parking lots, too. It will be installed later this year and will greatly increase the visibility and use of off street public parking.
  • Burlington Bent River Brewing Co., Valley Monster Pub, and The Washington are planning a zombie crawl later this month, and Burlington Memorial Auditorium is busy planning Haunted Auditorium. Check their Facebook pages for more information and updates .
