It is a crazy wild time we are in right now. Life is very different at this moment.
I have started to work from home. I have to admit, I am feeling a little lost like a balloon untethered. But, I am reminded that I am not alone in this.
Birthdays are being celebrated through windows, weddings are paired down to the only two hearts in the room, and gardening has taken on a whole new meaning.
We can all do something outside, in our yards, on our porches, and in our homes. It is good to touch the soil and get your hands dirty. No, literally, it is good for your health! Not only are we moving our bodies and getting exercise, but we also make our immune systems healthier, with every hand full of soil we touch. There have been many scientific studies on
how this happens.
Social distancing is extremely important for lowering the curve on this virus, but just sitting at home can do a number on our health if we don't watch it. Get outside, get some seed packets, plant the modern version of a Victory Garden and feed yourself. And importantly, reach out, there are ways now.
If there was ever a beautiful thing to come out of this, the creative human spirit tops it all! Reaching out via Skype or Zoom, group chats, or having concerts for all the world to see, even while in isolation... it makes the heart swell.
The generosity of people and companies, helping us overcome our boredom and yes, loneliness, should make us very hopeful.
C.L. has been gracious enough to lend us her considerable talents. This Friday evening between 5 -6 pm and every Friday at the same time through April, she will be hosting a Virtual Cocktail Party via the Zoom App.
Sign up for the Zoom app (it has a free version), and read the info contained lower in this newsletter to join in the fun!
In the meanwhile, read up below on C.L.s reasons to make a Cutting Garden, and How Coast Of Maine helps us with Growing Potatoes.
From all of us here at Hyannis Country Garden, we thank you and appreciate all of your support, and please stay healthy!
