Free Self-Defense Classes For Women
Carnalismo Brown Berets de Houston have partnered with PsyCombat to bring free self-defense classes for women.  Open to the public, be sure to RSVP here as space is limited. Wear work out clothing and comfortable shoes. Due to limited space, small children cannot be accommodated. No child care is provided. Light post workout snacks and water will be provided.

Color The Trees!
Houston Parks and Recreation Department will be coloring crepe myrtles at the traffic cloverleaf at Memorial and Waugh to bring attention to the plight of pollinators such as bees and butterflies. They are looking for volunteers (13+) to assist with tree coloring on the following two days:

Sat., 2-17-18, 8 am - 10 am; 10 am - Noon
Sat., 2-24-18, 8 am - 10 am; 10 am - Noon

Artist Opportunity: Storytellers Program
The Storytellers program’s goal is to expand the conversation about arts and culture in Houston’s communities. It is a creative and community exchange program developed in partnership with Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) and Houston Arts Alliance (HAA). The program utilizes storytellers to engage with the Visit My Neighborhood (VMN) partner organizations and the communities to translate the community’s creative practices, arts and cultural projects and history into story-telling and marketing opportunities.
