Parks Library Open Day is here

We are super excited to announce the Open Day for Parks Library, with the day kicking off at 11am on Saturday 20 October.

There'll be heaps of fun activities including test-driving the library's technology, virtual reality, craft and facepainting, cultural dancing and a Cirkidz demonstration, plus a guest appearance by Parker the Pelican from Paint the Parks and Gardens REaD. And, of course, you'll get to explore the fantastic spaces and features of the new, state of the art library.

Programs and events at Parks Library

A new library means there is a whole lot of new and wonderful events and programs. Features include - 
- Makerspace - get creative with laser cutters, 3D printers, virtual reality or crafts
- Media Room - record a podcast or film a video in this unique space 
- Toy Collection - discover hundreds of toys hand picked by the team to encourage imaginative play and development 

Our weekly favourites haven't been forgotten either  and you'll still find Baby Bounce, Storytime, Creative Kids and technology sessions.

Full STEAM ahead these school holidays

Your little people will love the big activities in our October School Holiday Program, running from Tuesday 2 - Friday 12 October.

Explore science, technology, engineering, arts and math with a huge range of fun and hands-on activities including learning about palaeontology, mysteries, photography, building and art. They won't want to leave.

Bookings are essential. 
Technology expo has launched

This November, City of PAE Libraries will be hosting TeXpo, an inaugural, and free, technology expo.

The event will be held at Parks Library on Saturday 
3 November and has been designed to allow the City of PAE community to get up close and hands-on with emerging technologies. We'll also be  showcasing some of the innovative technology currently used across all of our libraries.

Kickstart your career

We are currently calling for people who may be interested in career planning courses  at the Parks Library in 2019. Topics will include c areer planning, resume  writing and i nterview skills. 

Courses will be run by an accredited TAFE instructor and all units completed will count towards Certificate II in Skills For Work and Vocational Pathways.

Join our community Seed Library

Greenacres Library recently launched a Seed Library w ith fruit and vegetable seeds donated from local residents and businesses.

The initiative, a first for metro libraries, encourages the community to borrow for free, grow your own and return to share. We can't wait to see all the produce. 

To get involved, or to volunteer for the Greenacres Library Garden, contact the library.

Learn CPR for babies and children

Be part of the Parentmedic Movement and learn about children's health, first aid and safety. The free, hour-long session aims to help you feel more confident and prepared in handling common childhood health issues and knowing what to do in an emergency.

You will learn:
* Safe eating and first aid for choking
* Fevers and temperature management
* Allergies and anaphylaxis
* Baby and child CPR
* Head injuries

Greenacres Library,  Sunday 21 October, 2-3pm. Bookings essential.
