Happy Thanksgiving & Holiday Season

We wanted to take a moment to let you know how thankful we are for your support this past year. We have spread some Thanksgiving cheer and wanted to share the good news with you in case you may have missed it.
Best wishes to you and your family this holiday season.
November is a special time of year for the Terwilliger Family Legacy Fund for Charitable Endeavors. This year marks 15 years since Terry Terwilliger, passed away; It is also the month of Frederica Terwilliger's bday; and it is the 2nd Anniversary since we established our fund at the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.

We set out with an ambitious goal of raising $25,000 over five year's time. We are proud to announce that we met that goal within 18 months! This means our fund is now endowed , meaning we will be able to give out grants and scholarships forever and ever. This success is in part because of great support from our family, but also because of donations -- big and small -- from people like you, who have supported us during our fundraising events and initiatives throughout this past year. For that, we are MOST grateful, and we thank you from the bottoms of our hearts!
Sincerely,
Rose Terwilliger
& Michelle Terwilliger-Hathaway

TWO GRANTS AWARDED FOR THANKS & GIVING
This month, we awarded two grants. First we gave $1,000 to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in memory of my dad, Terry Terwilliger, who lost his brave battled against this disease on November 14, 2003. Then we donated $100 to ACCESS: Supports for Livi ng . This donation was also in his memory, but also in honor of Elizabeth "Biz" Rowley. My dad proudly served the ACCESS (then Occupations, Inc.) Board of Directors for 17 years before his diagnosis. "Biz" was an honoree at the 2018 ACCESS Vision of Hope Award Dinner this past Saturday night and is President & CEO at the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, where our fund is administered. Last year, we awarded $1,000 for suicide prevention initiatives in memory of Bryan Terwilliger.
FABULOUS FUNDRAISERS & FABULOUS FRIENDS
On April 25 we co-hosted " A Taste of Spain" with a special movie showing of " I'll Push You," a heartwarming film about two best friends on a journey of a lifetime as they traveled 500 miles across Spain, one of them in a wheelchair. Proceeds were split with Zylofone Studios, performing arts for people with special needs, and the Keith B. Hayes Foundation , which awards grants to support The Wheel Chair Foundation and the National Organization for Vehicle Accessibility (NOVA), among other things.

It was a fun and informative night with Spanish tapas and sangria, a great movie, and thoughtful discussion and fellowship afterwards.
On May 24 we hosted "Wine & "Spirits" - Connections and Conversations with the Other Side." This SOLD OUT fundraising event was held at Robibero Winery, in New Paltz, with intuitive medium Deborah Hanlon. We hope to repeat this event next spring, too. Proceeds will go toward a $2,500 first-time scholarship that we will award to a Wallkill High School Class of 2019 graduate. We hope you'll join us again!
HVG Campaign:
More Than $7K Raised
& Prizes won!!
Our Hudson Valley Gives campaign was a HUGE success, raising more than $7,000 online in about 24 hours time . That was 133% of goal, and a 20% increase from what we did the year prior!

Additionally, we were ranked #6 (out of 229 nonprofits participating) for the MOST MONEY RAISED, and #8 for the MOST DONORS overall! Our family made a big donation to win us a $250 cash prize for the biggest online donation during one of the contest periods. Yes, we blew up Facebook with selfies, but for all those posts besides billboards and elsewhere we ALSO won $1,250 in free advertising on Fox radio which we used to promote our (sold out) event with the intuitive medium at the winery.   THANK YOU.
Partnership with Mo's Meant Mo Money!
A huge thank to coaches, teachers, parents and athletes who used, shared, or distributed our coupons in March to shop for sports gear this past year. Modell's Sporting Goods generously donated a portion of those proceeds back to the Terwilliger Family Legacy Fund. That was $426.61 "Mo Money" for us to give away!
Terwilliger Family Legacy Fund for Charitable Endeavors: Honoring our Past & Supporting the Future
We support LOCAL Nonprofits
and LOCAL Students

Established in memory & honor of three generations of Terwilligers, our charitable fund awards grants to local nonprofits and scholarships to Wallkill High School graduates pursuing a degree in banking or finance , teaching , or social work or psychology/psychiatry. Grants are awarded to nonprofits that support suicide prevention, cancer care, or programs for people with disabilities.

Gone but not forgotten: Fred & Frederica (left) ; Terry (top right) ; and Bryan Terwilliger (bottom right) . Fred & Frederica strongly believed in community service, charitable giving, and the importance of a good education. They left generous bequests to the Wallkill Public Library Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps  and Wallkill Reformed Church . They were leaders with many civic and community groups, and passed a legacy of “giving” to their sons and grandchildren. Terry served his community as a business leader and a member of many boards of directors, including the  Wallkill Central School District Board of Education , and Occupations, Inc., now ACCESS: Supports for Living . He rang the bell every holiday season for  The Salvation Army USA , where he served as treasurer, and also served on the boards of the  Hudson Valley Philharmonic Orchestra , and the former Pious XII Youth & Family Services . He also supported Make-a-Wish and other charities.

Two new generations now continue this tradition of commitment to community – though volunteer work, fundraising, and philanthropy. Help us help others . Support us November 27 on NY Gives Day by donating here and like us on Facebook.  Finally, to learn more about our $2,500 scholarship to be awarded June 2019, please see a guidance counselor at Wallkill Senior High School. More details to be released soon.
