DIOCESAN EVENTS
Sustainable Saturdays at Bellwether Farm
Through a gift from the Advisory Council for the Stewardship of Creation, Bellwether Farm is offering resources to individuals and parishes in the Diocese of Ohio for  composting and  water stewardship . The Watershed Stewardship and Rain Barrel Workshop will be held on September 29 and the Composting Workshop will be held on October 20 The workshops are $10 and include and farm-to-table snacks.  Space is limited. ECS Grant Application
Episcopal Community Services (ECS) strives to foster ministries organized and/or supported by as many congregations as possible. We give priority to applications from Episcopal congregations in the Diocese of Ohio. We also encourage applications from collaborative community initiatives with active Episcopal involvement that serve t he needs of the community and educate and advocate for systemic change. Through ECS, parishes can apply for and receive financial support to create partnerships that strengthen communities, give in spiritual fidelity to God, and serve the world as the very body of Jesus. The submission of a 2019 Episcopal Community Services grant application is now an online process. You will receive an automatic acknowledgement reply when your grant application is submitted. Clergy Day
Clergy Day will be held on Tuesday, October 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bellwether Farm. All full-time active parochial clergy are required to attend. Celebration of New Ministry
Your prayers and presence are requested as the Rev. Lisa A. Tucker-Gray and the people of Trinity Episcopal Church celebrate their new ministry together. All are invited to attend this special service at 7:00 p.m. on  Wednesday, October 10 Clergy are invited to vest and wear white stoles.

Diocesan Youth Event
Diocesan Youth Event (DYE) will be held at Bellwether Farm on October 5-7DYE is open to youth in grades 6-12. An adult chaperone must accompany youth for the weekend. Please have  one adult for every 10 youth. All adult leaders must have completed Safeguarding God's Children  training.  Cost is $75 per person. (This fee helps cover meals and supplies for the weekend.) Consent and registration forms are available. The deadline to register is Friday, September 28.
Ministry Discernment Day
Ministry Discernment Day will be held on Saturday, October 13 at St. James, Wooster.  The purpose of Ministry Discernment Day is to help those who feel a call to service, to better understand that call, and to explain the mechanics of the discernment process. This is a mandatory meeting for both you and your rector or senior warden if you are considering entering the ordination process for either the priesthood or the diaconate. In addition, individuals interested in the opportunity to consider different models of lay ministry, or in the discernment process in general, are warmly encouraged to attend as well.  Lunch is provided. Registration is now open.

Convention Reminders
Registration for the 202nd Annual Convention of the Diocese of Ohio is now open. Registration must be completed by October 19. Parishes must certify their delegates by October 26 .
Exhibitor Applications
The application to have an exhibitor table at the Annual Convention is now available. Applications are due by October 19
Soup Supper to benefit Episcopal Schools in El Salvadores 
Los Amigos Episcopales will be hosting their 7th Annual Soup Supper on Saturday, October 20 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at St. Hubert's Church Kirtland Hills. The event includes a large variety of all you can eat soup served with bread and dessert. Some of the soups include Italian wedding, potato, squash, and split pea; there will be many different desserts available. This year will also include a raffle for a beautiful quilt donated by a member of St. Hubert's. All are welcome. Adult tickets are $12 and children 12 & under are $6. There is a max of $30 per family.
Ministry and Growth Grants
The Ministry and Growth Grant application is now available. Ministry and Growth Grants help congregations initiate new programs to build their size and vitality by reaching out to new members. The grant application has a rolling deadline .
PARISH EVENTS
Core Godly Play Training
St. Paul's, Cleveland Heights is hosting Core Godly Play Training beginning on September 28 at 5:30 p.m. through  September 30 at 5:30 p.m. 
Core Training is the essential training for all storytellers and doorpersons in the Godly Play room. We recommend attending Core Training every year for the first three years of your practice. You will learn the processes and Core stories of Godly Play as well as the theology behind these practices. This time of retreat will strengthen your understanding of children's spirituality and leave you spiritually refreshed!  Registration closes on September 24.
Second Annual Oktoberfest
St. Paul's, Medina will hold their second annual Oktoberfest on September 29 from 1:00-9:00 p.m. The event is rain or shine. Oktoberfest will have food, wine, and beer catered by Hofbrauhaus-Cleveland. German bands will play from 1:00-5:00 p.m., a rock band from 6:00-9:00 p.m., and the dance floor will be open all day. Oktoberfest will include Kids Korner fun, crazy hats, and caricatures from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Advance tickets for 21+ are $7, ages 11-20 are $5, and under 10 are free. Taizé Service
On Sunday,  September 30 at 7:00 p.m., New Life, Uniontown will conduct a beautiful, interdenominational Taizé Service open to all. A  Taizé service includes quiet and simple prayer, music, reflection, and silent meditation. These spiritual practices encourage an intimate, personal connection with God. The Taizé Community, a model of global Christian unity, is an ecumenical monastery with more than 100 brothers, both Catholic and Protestant, from more than 30  countries . Ski and Snowboard Club
St. Peter's, Lakewood is inviting members from other parishes to join in their Ski and Snowboard Club. The club meets at Boston Mills on Sunday evenings from 4:00-8:00p.m. We all bring or purchase dinner and enjoy fellowship together inside the lodge and out on the slopes. Our first Sunday is January 6th. Boston Mills/Brandywine, Alpine Valley, and Mad River Mountain offer a season-long Club Program for skiers, snowboarder, and snowbladers ages 8-18. The Club Program starts in January and includes 4 hours of slope time per session, equipment rental, and up to five lessons. The regular price is $203.05 and includes all rental needs except a helmet which can be rented for an additional $10 each time. All club members, excluding season passholders, will receive four-$10 Value Passes which are electronically loaded onto their club cards and can be used towards all day snow passes and tubing. We sign our children up and then all the parents use the value passes to ski/snowboard as a family. If you purchase your child a season pass (they are discounted 10/12-10/14), they can join our club for free but will not get the value passes. Club registration begins on October 1. Brown Bag Concert
Trinity Cathedral is hosting a Brown Bag Concert featuring the Amethyst String Quartet on October 3 at 12:00 p.m. The quartet will perform "Celebrating Autumn!" Brown bag lunches may be brought or purchased for $7 at the event .
St. Thomas, Port Clinton Welcomes New Rector
On Monday, October 1, St. Thomas, Port Clinton will be welcoming their new rector, the Rev. Dr. Beverly Collinsworth. All are invited to attend her first Sunday Service on October 7 at 9:00 a.m. A welcoming brunch will follow immediately after the service. 20th Annual Blessing of the Pets
St. Patrick's, Brunswick is holding their 20th Annual Blessing of the Pets from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on October 7. All animals will be blessed, including stuffed animals, cremains, and photographs. Donations will be accepted. Food vendors will also be there. The event will happen rain or shine.

Brown Bag Concert
Trinity Cathedral is hosting a Brown Bag Concert featuring art, motion, and dance on October 10 at 12:00 p.m. The artists will perform "Dancing Wheels." Brown bag lunches may be brought or purchased for $7.

Fall into Gratitude: Soul Collage
Christ Church, Shaker Heights will host a creative retreat on Saturday, October 20 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The retreat will incorporate mindfulness techniques and soul collage. Proceeds of this retreat will benefit St. Herman's bagged lunch program, one of the signature ministries at Christ Church. The retreat is $20 per person. We Sing the Year 'Round
St. Paul's, Canton; St. Mark's, Canton; and St. Timothy's Massillon will join together for a Hymn Festival on October 21 at 3:00 p.m. The festival will be held at St. Paul's, Canton and will be directed by  Dr.  John Ferguson .
Children's Storytelling: Peace Making Across Cultures
The second event in the fall series offered by the Commission for Racial Understanding will be held at St. Paul's, Maumee, on Sunday October 21 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Representatives from several cultures will be on hand to tell stories about peace-making along with sharing activities, crafts, food, and fun. All ages are welcome to attend. The event is free and open to the public .
St. Thomas Concert Series
St. Thomas, Berea is hosting a concert series. There are two concerts in October. On Sunday, October 21, there will be a Gospel-Jazz Praise Concert at 4:00 p.m.  Gabriel's Horns, a 21-piece jazz-praise big band, will perform. Joining them is special guest Chairo! Praise, a contemporary gospel ensemble. Tickets are $10 each. Advanced tickets are available through the church office (440.234.5241) or at the door the night of the concert. If purchasing in advance, make checks payable to St. Thomas. The second concert is a Concert Band performance on Sunday, October 28 at 4:00 p.m. Come see m embers of the Tri-C Concert Band featuring woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments. The band is under the direction of Randolph Laycock, PhD.  This concert is free with a free-will offering accepted .
Trunk or Treat
St. Thomas, Berea is hosting a Trunk or Treat event on October 27 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Kids can safely trick-or-treat while stopping at the decorated cars by walking through both the United Methodist and St. Thomas parking lots.  Check-in at either St. Thomas or the United Methodist Church of Berea for a goodie bag. Refreshments will be served at both churches. Kids may dress up in not-too-scary costumes, if they wish. Kids will also get to vote on the best decorated cars; the winner will receive a local restaurant gift card.
Volunteers Needed
St. Luke's, Cleveland is looking for volunteers to help with tutoring sessions and Christian education classes for youth as well as for the after-school art program. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., the doors of the church will be opened to assist the community's young people with homework and to host discussions on different faith topics. The art program will be held on Wednesdays from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. If interested in volunteering, please call St. Luke's at 216.631.2841 and ask for David Ramsey.
