2019 IFNA Awards: Call for Nominations

The 2019 Call for IFNA Award nominations is now open.  There are 7 awards in 4 categories. Please nominate a colleague or organization who is providing an invaluable contribution to family nursing and family health. Deadline for nomina tions is January 31, 2019.
FAMILY NURSING PRACTICE NEWS 
IFNA mourns the loss of Dr. Kathryn Hoehn Anderson (USA) who served as the IFNA Practice Committee co-chair from 2010-2018. Kathryn's family has requested that IFNA create the Dr. Kathryn Hoehn Anderson Student Travel Fund where your tax-deductible donation to the IFN Foundation will provide family nursing students an opportunity to attend and participate in the biennial International Family Nursing Conferences.

The IFNA Position Statements Dissemination Project is led by the IFNA Practice Committee. See new entries which feature how the IFNA Position Statements are being shared through publications, conference presentations, and other grey literature.

FAMILY NURSING EDUCATION NEWS 
Dr. Shelley Spurr (Canada) is an Associate Professor at the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan. She led the development of a program titled, Caring for Kids Where They Live, which is an interprofessional pediatric clinical learning environment that brings together students from the colleges of Nursing, Dentistry, Medicine, and Kinesiology in order to build capacity and improve the standard of  care.The collaboration among health professionals and students allows for effective pediatric care to be provided for children, adolescents, and their families where they live.  [Read more]

FAMILY NURSING RESEARCH NEWS 
Dr. Kimberly Pyke-Grimm (USA) is a Nurse Scientist and Clinical Nurse Specialist at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Stanford, California. Studying treatment decision making in children, adolescents, and their families has been the center of her research for many years. Currently, her program of research examines adolescents and young adults with cancer with a particular emphasis on treatment decision making.

On October 11, 2018, IFNA Board member Dr. Birte Østergaard (Denmark), along with fellow IFNA members and board members from the Danish Family Nursing Association, Dr. Karin Dieperink (Denmark), Dr. Hanne Konradsen (Sweden), and Dr. Anne Brødsgaard (Denmark) met with the Danish minister of the elderly to provide input about family nursing. IFNC14 CONFERENCE COMMITTEE NEWS

The IFNA Conference Committee is pleased to announce a robust response to the IFNC14 Call for Abstracts with a total number of 350 abstract submissions. The IFNA Conference Committee thank and applaud all submitters and the country liaisons for encouraging submissions. The review process is in motion. Notification of decision is anticipated by Friday, January 25, 2019.
