COMMUNITY CLEANUP
Join the Literacy Department and participate in the Town of Brookhaven’s Community Cleanup on Saturday, May 15th at 9:00-12:00. Join a group to clean an assigned site around our community, or feel free to pick up your supplies and clean a site you have in mind. Garbage pickers (while supplies last, must be returned), event t-shirts, Certificate of Participation, garbage bags, disposable gloves, and a snack will be provided. Dress appropriately for walking near wooded areas and bring your own work gloves if you’d like.

GAME DAY @ THE LIBRARY

Parent Toddler: Developmental Milestones

This virtual workshop is for any parent that may have concerns about their child’s development from birth to 5 years old. We will discuss developmental milestones, how to get your child evaluated, and what qualifies a child for services. There will also be a question-and-answer period. Register now.
Positive Parenting
Wednesdays, May 19, 26, June 2, 9, 16, 23, 6:00-7:00pm via Zoom

Learn how to set healthy boundaries, how to discipline without punishment, and how to treat your children with respect so that they will respect you. Sessions are designed for both mandated (certificate included) and non-mandated parents. Registration begins on Wednesday, 5/5.

The Island Escape! Digital Escape Room

Your plane touches down on Harvey’s Island and you talk to Harvey. He tells you that he set up an escape room for you to participate in. He explains the rules and locks you in! You hear all the locks clicking into place and walk over to the door and count a total of 6 locks. Participate here throughout the month of May.

A trained HIICAP counselor will offer counseling and can assist with: 
  • Applying for the Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) Program, Medicare savings programs, "Extra Help" prescription assistance, and pharmacy discount programs. 
  • Medicare and health insurance questions about benefits, options, paperwork, and resources. 
  • Information on insurance products that may help pay for costs not covered by Medicare alone such as a Medigap or a Medicare Advantage Plan. 
  • How to review and select a Medicare Part D prescription plan.
