This week, NPR began a series of stories looking at the ways that China is attempting to remake the world to its liking, and how its aims and methods are being received in Nairobi, Rio, Islamabad, Mexico City and beyond. This series continues through the weekend and into next week across all NPR's news shows.

Fall Fund Drive Update: Almost There!
thermometer indicating funds raised
KGOU had a good response to our fall fundraiser last week, and at this time, just over 90 percent of the monetary goal has been pledged.

This fall more than 950 listeners (110 of them new) have contributed so far. A big 'thank you' to each and every one of you who gave, plus to our food providers Waving Wheat Bakery in Norman, Gaberino's Homestyle Italian Restaurant, Pizza Peddlers in Noble, Nosh in Moore, and Ingrid's Kitchen in Oklahoma City.

This year's fall drive was a few weeks earlier than last year's, and perhaps some listeners were not ready to renew quite yet. If so, there's still time to have your donation counted toward our fall goal -- it's never too late to support KGOU!

NPR's pop culture aficionados Linda Holmes, Bob Mondello and Glen Weldon discuss 15 films they saw in Toronto that they liked, and preview many more scheduled for release before the end of the year.
