NPR News Series: How China Is Remaking the World

21st Century China is an economic behemoth with influence and sway in almost every facet of international life. This week, NPR began a series of stories looking at the ways that China is attempting to remake the world to its liking, and how its aims and methods are being received in Nairobi, Rio, Islamabad, Mexico City and beyond. This series continues through the weekend and into next week across all NPR's news shows.


Fall Fund Drive Update: Almost There!

KGOU had a good response to our fall fundraiser last week, and at this time, just over 90 percent of the monetary goal has been pledged.

This fall more than 950 listeners (110 of them new) have contributed so far. A big 'thank you' to each and every one of you who gave, plus to our food providers Waving Wheat Bakery in Norman, Gaberino's Homestyle Italian Restaurant, Pizza Peddlers in Noble, Nosh in Moore, and Ingrid's Kitchen in Oklahoma City.

This year's fall drive was a few weeks earlier than last year's, and perhaps some listeners were not ready to renew quite yet. If so, there's still time to have your donation counted toward our fall goal -- it's never too late to support KGOU!

NPR's Movie Preview: 15 Critics' Picks This Fall

Fall is often the most intense movie season of all. Awards contenders begin to come into focus after the Toronto International Film Festival, and before the start of the holiday movie season. NPR's pop culture aficionados Linda Holmes, Bob Mondello and Glen Weldon discuss 15 films they saw in Toronto that they liked, and preview many more scheduled for release before the end of the year.

Ticket Giveaway ~ Curiosity Fest with Radiolab's Jad Abumrad

Curiosity Fest, a one-day event by Oklahoma Humanities, is shaping up to be a great event for public radio fans. There will be an interactive session on Oklahoma Engaged with KGOU's Claire Donnelly and StateImpact Oklahoma's Joe Wertz. And the day culminates with a talk about the creative process from Jad Abumrad, host and creator of Radiolab. We're giving away pairs of tickets to this day of learning and celebrating, Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Civic Center in Oklahoma City. Enter our drawing for your chance to win.
