Celebrating 500 Years of Filipino Catholic Evangelization

As part of the diocesan celebration of the 500th anniversary of Christianity in the Philippines, the Pilgrim Cross - a replica of the first cross that the voyager Ferdinand Magellan brought to the Philippines - is visiting each parish in the Diocese of Oakland. Tomorrow (November 9) the Pilgrim Cross will be transferred from St. Raymond, Dublin to St. Joseph Basilica.  Join us for a Rite of Reception this Saturday (November 10) at the 5pm Mass, followed by a small reception.  For a complete schedule of the prayer services at the Basilica through November 23 click  here .

Date Night this Saturday - Helping people in need
November 10, 6:30 - 8:30pm in Parish Center, 1119 Lafayette St.

Married couples and their children are invited to a night of giving back to the community. As we approach the holiday season, it is a good reminder to think about those in need. This will be a great opportunity for married couples to follow what Jesus told us   "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
Gather at the Parish Center to make  blessing bags for people in need, to be distributed at another date. We will reflect as couples on how  we can give back to the community.  Supplies are provided; just come and have fun while helping others!  There will be  group discussion and couple's time.
It's potluck, so feel free to bring your favorite dish, appetizer, dessert or drink to share.
Childcare available with RSVP.   Free will offering.

Pies Need for Alameda Community Thanksgiving

Christ Episcopal Church is again hosting the annual Alameda Community Thanksgiving, and needs LOTS of pies.  If you would like to donate a pie (or several!), please deliver it directly to Christ Church located on Santa Clara at Grand  on Wednesday November 21, between 9am-6pm.  (Use the  Grand Street parking lot entrance to the kitchen.)   They would like to know in advance how many pies to expect, so if you plan to donate please email [email protected] by November 15. Any questions can be directed there, also. Thank you for your support!
