A lot is happening at Belin Memorial. We are sharing our final goodbyes with the Alexanders while at the same time preparing to welcome the new ministers. During this period of transition over the next six weeks, here is what to expect around the church.
On June 9, we will all gather on the Field of Dreams under a tent to worship. The Belin Chancel Choir and Harbor Band will be leading us in worship, and Mike will preach his final sermon. Immediately following the worship service, lunch will be provided for the congregation.
There will be a period of five weeks between Mike's last day and Will Malambri's first day as Senior Minister at Belin Memorial. During this time, the Pastoral Cabinet will assist me in caring for our con
gregation. Because of the willingness of our retired ministers to serve, our church will not miss a beat when it comes to visiting those in need.
From the administrative side of the church, Belin Memorial will be gaining a great asset on Monday, June 10. Paul Gardner is joining our staff as Belin Memorial's new Church Administrator. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position. I am excited to have him on our team, and I look forward to working alongside him. If you are on campus during office hours, take a few moments to swing by and welcome Paul in the coming weeks.
June 26 marks the first day for our new Associate Minister, Isaac Dusenbury. This new position will help meet the pastoral demands of our growing congregation. The reason Isaac is arriving two weeks before Will is because Will has a long-standing commitment to attend an Eagle Scout Camp with his son, Mac. Our Staff Parish Relations Committee feels it is of utmost importance for Will to follow through and be there for his son.
There will be an Ice Cream Social on July 14, in the Family Life Center, at 5 PM to welcome the Malambris and Dusenburys. My hope is that all of our church family will attend that afternoon to let the new preachers know how excited we are to have them join us. There will be games for the kids to keep them entertained so that families of all ages can attend. You do not want to miss this special time with Will, Isaac and their families.
During the transition, worship will continue at Belin Memorial! There are several special planned worship services:
June 16 - On Father's Day, Connie Stinson will preach in The Sanctuary, and I will preach in The Harbor.
June 23 - I will preach in The Sanctuary. In The Harbor, Dawn Smith Jordan will preach and share her musical talents. Dawn is a well-known speaker, musician, Miss South Carolina winner, and runner-up to Miss America. She has an amazing testimony.
June 30 - In The Sanctuary, Isaac will be installed as the new Associate Minister, and he will preach his first sermon there. I will be Isaac's liturgist for the first Sunday. In The Harbor, Buddy Satterfield will join the Harbor Band in providing a musical message based on the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
July 7 - Clyde Penry will preach in The Sanctuary. Isaac and I will co-preach in The Harbor.
July 14 - Will Malambri will be installed as Belin Memorial's new Senior Minister in The Sanctuary, and he will preach that day in the traditional services. Isaac will serve as his liturgist, and I will preach in The Harbor.
I am grateful for Jim Sellers. During the past four months, he has served as the interim Church Administrator. He has helped me to stay afloat during this time of transition.
I am grateful for our staff. They have been wonderful in taking on additional tasks so that life at Belin Memorial would continue to thrive.
I am grateful for the Staff Parish Relations Committee, especially our chairman, Buzz Freeman. This team has met countless times over the past six months to oversee these transitions. Their counsel and wisdom are much appreciated.
I am grateful for our church. It is truly a privilege to serve as one of your clergy.
Grace and Peace,
