THIS SUNDAY , join us in welcoming NPK staff, students, and families to worship with us! This Nativity ministry fills our halls with joyful sounds each week, and we are glad to have them with us. Take time Sunday morning to greet one another and hear what God is doing in NPK!

NPK invites everyone to peruse the silent auction baskets that will be on display in the Fellowship Hall until Wednesday, October 17. We have a wonderful variety of baskets and items including, but not limited to: Biltmore tickets, wall hangings, restaurant gift cards, golf outings, fly fishing, car care items, and many more! Thank you to both parishioners, and NPK families who donated items to make this event such a success!
Mark your calendars for Sunday night, October 21st!
Nativity is in a time of pastoral transition, which presents our congregation with the opportunity to prepare for the future. We are beginning to prepare for the call process, a journey of discernment that will lead to calling our eventual Senior Pastor. The first step in this process is an event called the Congregational Study. Nativity's Congregational Study will be held on  Sunday, October 21 at 5:00pm . We will gather together in the Fellowship Hall for a simple meal and the opportunity to gather around tables and have conversations that will provide information needed for the call process. We will talk about our needs for ministry, our congregation's history, and our vision for the future. This process will be led by Bishop Tim Smith (NC Synod, ELCA) . We hope to have as many people participate in this process as possible! Dinner is free, childcare will be provided, and we can even give you a ride if you need one.
Can YOU help?
We are creating a list of Faith Formation Leader substitutes. Your materials are provided; come spend a Sunday morning growing in faith with our children. Please contact Pastor Rachel if you can help.
Join us on Sunday mornings between worship services, from 9:40 to 10:40, to learn and grow in faith.
This year, we have 7 classes: Click to read descriptions!

Each class can be joined at any time, and if you miss a Sunday, you can jump right back in!
Dear Members of Nativity,

Thank you so much for your recent donation to the Welcome Table at Skyland Methodist - it is much appreciated. I am so grateful for your involvement with the ministry from its inception. I will never forget the out-of-the-blue phone call from Nancy Seekamp saying "We want to be involved!" That commitment allowed us to go forward with the ministry and has helped sustain it through the years. T his month we will celebrate 5 years of impactful ministry here in South Asheville!... Blessings to your church family as you continue to be a light in our community.

Patty Olbrantz
Coordinator, Welcome Table

The Women of the ELCA Fall Gathering for the Smoky Mountain Conference will meet on  Saturday, October 20 , at Grace Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, NC. This is a gathering of women from different Lutheran churches in the area. Registration begins at 9AM, the program begins at 9:30 and lunch will be served at noon. The program, "Being Seen" will help us understand that we all need to see everyone as Jesus sees us and to love each person who crosses our path. The offering will be given to The Marketplace, a non-profit Christian fair trade store located in Cornelius, NC that partners with ministries around the world. There will also be a special offering for the Christine Bohr Anderson Seminary Scholarship Fund and in-kind gifts of girl's panties, sizes 3-13, and children's toothbrushes will be collected for Mount Pisgah Lutheran Haiti Mission Project. Call Linda Blake , 684-8378, if interested in attending. Carpooling from Nativity is available at 8:45 am that morning.

The Women's Meeting for October will be Thursday,
October 11 , at 11:00AM in the Fellowship Hall. All women are invited to bring a bag lunch and join in the Bible Study and fellowship.

The Nativity Card Ministry will at 12:30PM , immediately following the Women's Meeting, on Thursday, October 11. Men and women are welcome to come and make cards for Nativity members on the prayer list. The only skills needed are to be able to fold, cut, and paste. If those skills are not in your skill set, we will find other ways for you to help make the cards that reach out to our members and let them know we are praying for them.
