"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
"Take Five!"
It's an old adage to "work as if everything depends on you, but pray as if everything depends on God." We cannot be lazy about our needs and expect God to do everything for us. God is not a cosmic butler.
At Ayersville UMC we are emphasizing prayer by means of a 5-week prayer vigil called "Take Five!" If you have not done so already, please call the church office to sign up for a 5 minute prayer slot and pray at that time each day. We are imploring God to heal our land and to protect our schools, communities, and cities. We are asking for an end to the brunt of Covid-19.
Our country as a whole needs healing and the church is supposed to be a help institution. As we humble ourselves, pray, seek God's face, and turn from our wicked ways, then the promises of God will potentially be a blessing for our country, for us, and people we don't even know. We can travel anywhere in the world through prayer. Jesus prompted us to ask, seek, knock.
We must stay active with our Christian faith. Unfortunately, the coronavirus discourages healthy activities that we need to be doing. Sometimes, creativity is helpful. On the weekend of Sunday, September 6, we will be having only one worship service and it's outside under a tent at 9am, with the Rhythm Travelers leading us in singing and I will preach on laboring for the Master. Whether it's through prayer or work, may we all be doing God's bidding.
In Christ’s Love,
Pastor Mo
