Feature Story: Woodrow Loller retires, Chief Financial Officer Dottie Wetmore named next general manager
|
We have big news! Congratulations to our General Manager Woodrow "Woody" Loller on his retirement after 20 years of service to the Haven Harbour Marina Resorts community. Chief Financial Officer Dottie Wetmore has been promoted to take the company’s helm over the coming weeks.
During his tenure, Woody has been paramount to our company’s growth as one of the Chesapeake Bay’s leading resort marinas. Hired in 2001 as service manager of Haven Harbour Yacht Services, Woody oversaw the continued success of our area’s most trusted full-service yachting facility for 11 years before being named general manager in 2012. As general manager, Woody has led the company through many transformational changes, chief among them being the acquisition of what is now Haven Harbour South on Rock Hall Harbor in 2018.
"Having worked a lifetime in the marine industry, I'm ready to step back and start enjoying retirement," said Woody. "My wife and I plan to dig into our bucket list and do some serious traveling in the next couple years."
With Woody's well-earned retirement, a new page turns in the history of our company – now in its 35th year of family ownership and operation.

Dottie Wetmore will assume the responsibilities of general manager beginning May 1, 2021 – a role for which she has had quite the run-up. Hired in 1997 as office manager and assistant controller, her equally impressive tenure with our company includes previously serving as resort and inn manager, as well as handler of marketing efforts; all the while overseeing the company’s finances. She is returning to Maryland after a year of working remotely in Florida to lead the company into this new and exciting era.
"I'm grateful and proud to accept the general manager position of Haven Harbour Marina Resorts," said Dottie. "This office comes with honor, but also with great responsibility – of which I do not take lightly. I believe the last 24 years of my tenure, as well as the guidance and knowledge learned from past managers, has well prepared me for this new responsibility. I am dedicated to the growth and success of the marinas and our staff, as well as the satisfaction and enjoyment of our slipholders and guests, and I have a great desire to continue to motivate and lead our team members toward the common goals of quality-standards and exceptional service. I look forward to continuing the relationships we have built and working with you all in this new capacity."
James Brawner, Chairman and CEO of Brawner Company, Inc. and owner of Haven Harbour Marina Resorts, comments on this change in leadership and the future of our operation:
“It gives me immense pleasure to announce that our Chief Financial Officer Dottie Wetmore, who brings over 24 years of service to Haven Harbour, has been promoted to take the helm from Woody as Director of Marina Resort Operations in the coming weeks. In this new role, Dottie will continue our established standard of excellence, and be responsible for managing all aspects of resort operations at Haven Harbour Marina and Haven Harbour South. After a nationwide search to fill the vacant position that yielded many qualified candidates, I was thrilled to find the best candidate within our upper management ranks, thereby continuing our proud tradition of promoting from within our organization.”
Dottie will be joined by Assistant Manager Mark Bryden and Director of Service Operations Greta Sommers as members of the company’s new senior management team. Current Accounts Payable Manager Sarah Ulrick will be transitioning to take on greater accounting and financial duties as a result of these changes.
