Girls cross country team wins 3rd place at state
Four Ray-Pec runners earn All-State honors
Four runners earn All-State honors.
The Ray-Pec High School girls cross country team placed 3rd in Class 4 at the state meet on Nov. 3, 2018, in Jefferson City. The team was led by Junior Marissa Dick, 5th place; Senior Miranda Dick, 6th place; and Senior Makenzie Stucker, 23rd place.

The boys were 9th as a team, led by Junior Braden Zaner, who placed 21st and earned  All-State honors for the first time.

Marissa Dick earned All-State honors for the second time. Miranda Dick and  Makenzie Stucker earned All-State honors for the third time.  Miranda and Makenzie are the only runners in Ray-Pec school history to earn All-State honors in cross country three times.
American Education Week is Nov. 12-16
This year's theme: Reach. Educate. Inspire.
American Education Week is Nov. 12 to 16, 2018. The annual event presents the opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education.  

Our public schools are here for each and every student. We welcome students of all backgrounds, abilities and incomes, and each of us plays a role in ensuring our schools are open to all. No matter the circumstance, everyone is welcome and all deserve the support, tools, and time to learn. Board reorganizes with Ruth Johnson as president

New School Board Member Bill Lowe  took the oath of office during the Nov. 8 special meeting of the Board. He was selected to fill a vacancy  due to the resignation of Kim Bailey, who was appointed to the Missouri State Board of Education.

At the time of her resignation, Bailey was serving as Board President. Since her departure, Vice President Paul Coffman had been serving as Interim President. 

After Lowe was sworn in, the Board reorganized and elected Ruth Johnson to  serve as president; and Paul Coffman as vice president.  Pam Steele continues as secretary; and Cynthia Byous continues as treasurer. Lowe was appointed to serve until the next School Board election in April 2019.
High School to present 'The Robber Bridegroom'
Performances of musical comedy set for Nov. 15-18
Ray-Pec High School announces its fall musical comedy, "The Robber Bridegroom." Performances will be in the Ray-Pec High School Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15, 16, and 17, and at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 18. Reserve tickets by calling the box office line, 892-3999 extension 2400. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

The Robber Bridegroom is a musical comedy told as a southern tall tale. It features a Robin Hood-like robber named Jamie Lockhart and Rosamund, the girl who steals his heart. The show features outlandishly comical characters and a delightfully catchy score that combines pop hooks with the stylings of bluegrass music.

Good Neighbors event is Saturday, Nov. 17
See descriptions of breakout sessions for Nov. 17 conference
Join us for the 2nd annual Good Neighbors, Strong Community event, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Ray-Pec High School.  Childcare will be provided if registered in advance.

Topics include resilience, suicide, drug abuse, internet safety, mental health, resolving conflict, equipping families to help others who are struggling, autism, and helping children cope with divorce. 

You may attend specific sessions or come for the entire day!

Please review procedures for inclement weather
District uses many methods to notify about school cancellations
When necessary, the District may delay the start of school, cancel school, or release school early due to inclement weather. The decision to close school or delay the opening of school will be made as close to 5:30 a.m. as possible to allow time to communicate this decision before most students prepare for the school day.

In the event of a school cancellation, early release, or late start, the District will use all available media to communicate effectively:
  • We will use the SchoolMessenger service to send a telephone message to all employees and student families .
  • A text message will be sent via Textcaster. You can sign up here.
  • An email will be sent to all subscribers of RP Update, the district's electronic newsletter. You can subscribe by sending a message to rp.update@raypec.org.
  • Information will be shared on local TV stations (4, 5, 9, and 41).
  • An update will be available via the district information line at 816-892-3988.
  • The announcement will be posted on the district websiteFacebook page, and via Twitter.
