A Message to EPICureans!
EPIC celebrated its busy 2017-18 year with a well- attended and enjoyable annual Provost’s Reception –
but EPIC activities have not concluded for the season. On June 12 we have a particularly exciting program: a guided tour, led by Engineering Prof. Sunil Agrawal of his rehabilitation robotics laboratory. Agrawal’s cutting edge work, carried out in collaboration with Rehabilitation Medicine at CUMC, is particularly relevant to people in our age demographic because it focuses on robotics aimed at helping people relearn, restore, or improve functional movements. Over lunch we will be given an orientation lecture and then tour the labs with his team. EPIC is hoping to build a collaborative relationship with the robotics lab so that eligible EPIC members can participate in development and testing. Do join us and please RSVP below for planning purposes.
Here is some good news! At the Annual Reception Provost John Coatsworth announced the creation of a full-time administrator position for EPIC and the Office for Faculty Retirement (headed by Prof Emeritus Doug Chalmers). The Provost also announced that there are several possible permanent locations for EPIC to “own” and use for its activities. This is welcome news for our continued meaningful growth. We’ll keep you posted on the new position and the space.
On June 6
th this year’s Morningside Gardens lecture series concludes with a 2:00 PM presentation by Prof Emerita Mischa Schwartz. The series, curated by Prof Emerita Jo Shepherd, in collaboration with George Calderaro, Director of Community Relations, School for Professional Studies, has been very well-attended and much appreciated. Thank you both!
Yoga continues June through August and we are hoping to have another musical get together, coordinated by Prof. Emerita Carolyn Greenberg.
Have a good day.
