Dear Saint Rose Families,

Today our 8th grade students started to volunteer as servers for funerals at Saint Rose. 8th graders, Jeremy Szymanski and Jacy Foos, were the first students to serve this role.    The benefit of this charitable act is the work that they provide the parish.  Students now have an opportunity to have a real world application of the Corporal Work of Mercy to bury the dead.  It is another opportunity for our student body to practice one of the school's charisms, Servant Leadership.  We know that when students actively participate in something, such as performing service for others, that experience enriches their faith and formation.
Thank you to Jeremy and Jacy for being the first of many 8th grade students to serve our community in this role.

Sincerely,
Bryon Borgelt

Letters From Haiti

Last year, our students wrote to students at Saint Rose School, our sister school in Haiti. Recently, those students returned the gesture and wrote back sharing their thanks and prayers for our students and school. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing these letters. Please take a minute to read.

School Advisory Council Annual Survey

SURVEY ENDS TOMORROW!

Dear Saint Rose School Families,

Make sure that your voice is heard!

Our annual school survey is online starting now and will be open for just two weeks. We ask that every family take a few minutes to complete the survey. This is a very important tool to measure all aspects of our school: Catholic identity, academics, physical structure, classroom instruction, and other areas.  As members of Saint Rose School Advisory Council, we take our responsibility to heart -- to represent and support the best interests of our students and families, listen and express concerns and praises to the school, and help foster success for all Saint Rose School students.

Most of the survey is quick, multiple choice questions, and we have provided blank space for you to type additional feedback if desired.  We want to emphasize that your answers are strictly anonymous. The experiences of our school families give each of us a unique voice, and our school survey ensures that all of our voices are heard, affirming all that is positive and successful while also working together toward continuous improvement on behalf of our students.  Thank you for supporting our school by taking the time to complete our school survey!
The survey will be open from October 25 until November 9, 2018.  The school has a chance to earn an alternate dress day if we receive a 50% participation rate.

The School Advisory Council Members
Abbie Schoen, Jennifer Becker, Julia Burrow, Heidi Hartman, Bill Hoyt,
Elizabeth Ravas, Janelle Schaller, Desirae Shroyer and Jeff Stopar

Saint Rose School theme for the year:

Love Life!

November's theme is End of Life Issues --
Death, Euthanasia, and the Death Penalty

As the liturgical year draws to a conclusion, the church focuses on the "end time" as we start the month with the Feast of All Saints and All Souls.

This month we will focus on End of Life Issues -- Death, Sacrament of the Sick, Euthanasia, and the Death Penalty.

During the month of November when the Church focuses on end times, it is comforting to recall the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.  This beautiful Sacrament of healing is offered to any Catholic who is chronically ill, seriously ill, about to undergo surgery, or is near death.  Only a bishop or priest can administer the Sacrament.  Catholics are encouraged to request the Sacrament for themselves or a loved one during these situations.  The Sacrament can be received more than once.

Please click the image to the left to view the video on the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. This is a great video for your family to watch together and discuss.

Charity of the month:
Saint Rose Cemetery Fund
(began by the school children two years ago)

This fund will be used to help with burial costs in the Saint Rose Cemetery for families with financial difficulties.  This is a corporal work of mercy to "Bury the Dead".

Please encourage your children to be generous in their donations
at the weekly school Masses.
