Dear ESF Community,

All ESF Syracuse campus students (graduate and undergraduate) must now secure a COVID-19 test through one of the following opportunities. There is no cost for any component of surveillance testing. This is because ESF students who wish to use any Syracuse University facilities must have a negative COVID-19 test result, so online students should also strongly consider participating in this free testing opportunity as well. This result must be from a test performed by ESF or Syracuse University.

Please see the options below if you still need a test.

  • Walk-up testing is available at Syracuse University, Thursday and Friday (Aug. 27 and Aug. 28, 2020), outside of Shaw Hall from noon to 2:00 p.m. Note: This schedule changes frequently. Please check your email often.

To take advantage of these saliva swab testing options, please adhere to the following guidelines.
  • Wear a mask when arriving to the check-in center.
  • Please do NOT eat or drink—including water, gum, mints, lozenges, smoking or smokeless tobacco products—for 30 minutes prior to arriving at the check-in center.
  • Please do NOT brush your teeth or use mouthwash for 3 hours prior to arriving at the check-in center.

After surveillance testing you may continue normal activities (with strict adherence to mask wearing and social distancing) unless you are subsequently contacted by ESF staff and notified of a positive test result.

Results will be communicated between ESF and Syracuse University. Negative COVID-19 test results are required for access to all SU facilities, Previous participants in testing conducted at SU or ESF, including during move-in at Centennial Hall, do not need to be tested again. Participants may only be contacted about positive sample results. Results from testing performed at outside medical facilities will not be accepted.

Sincerely,
John Wasiel
