State College Named One of the Best Places to Move to in the U.S.
Reader's Digest has named State College as one of the "15 Best Places to Move to In the U.S." Calling it "one of the fastest growing, most educated and safest college towns in America," the magazine cited Forbes' ranking of State College as the third-best college town and Psychology Today's rating of the area as one of the least stressful places to live. "These fascinating small cities and burgeoning big towns across the United States offer green spaces, myriad recreational opportunities, thriving downtowns, and active local communities, not to mention reasonable real estate prices, making them the perfect destinations to set up house and put down roots," according to Readers Digest. UVA Created Presidential Working Group to Improve the Relationship Between Town and Gown
The University of Virginia has created a presidential working group to determine how to focus on improving the relationship between town and gown. UVa President Jim Ryan has asked the group to identify the most pressing issues for the community and to explore the best long-term structure for developing solutions, possibly through the establishment of a council or board. A report from the group will be delivered to Ryan by February. "Building a stronger relationship between UVa and the surrounding community is one of my top priorities as president," Ryan said. "The creation of this working group is a first step in what will be a robust effort to strengthen that relationship, and I am grateful to the members of the group for their willingness to help us get started.
