$474 Million Infrastructure Project
to Transform South Side Rail Yards

Chicago's South Side is one of the worst rail bottlenecks in the country. Between 71st and 79th Streets, dozens of freight and Metra trains cross paths daily leaving motorists and residents frustrated.  Relief is on the way with the $474 million 75th Street Corridor Impro vement Project, part of the Chicago Region Environmental & Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) program.   Funding is comprised of a $132 million grant from the federal government with the remainder coming from the state, county, city, and railroads. Construction will begin in 2019 and completion expected in 2025.
