Winter is Coming
How Can You Help?

Host a Food Drive! The process is simple:
Find a location to host your drive, tell somebody, and have fun with your drive!

You can also run a virtual food drive! Our friends at YouGiveGoods.com have made it
very easy to help fill our Food Bank! This service is free to use, and allows for you to
share your drive with even more people, giving your drive an extra boost!
E-mail  [email protected] for more information!

Hitting For Hunger

Long Island Sports Zone is once again partnering with Long Island Cares to host Hitting for Hunger. Hitting for Hunger is a baseball clinic and food drive to collect and give food to the people of Long Island that need it right before the holiday season. At least 8 cans of food are needed to register for Saturday, November 17th, 2018, from 9:00am-3:00p.

Bards Against Hunger

The time is coming closer for The Bards Against Hunger Annual Food Raising Poetry Event! On Sunday, November 11th from 2:30pm -5:30pm, come enjoy a fine afternoon of poetry (and read some of your own!) and bring a can or two of food at the Conklin Barn in Huntington (2 High Street in Huntington). This is an annual event hosted by The Bards Initiative, a Long Island poetry organization, to collect food for LI Cares.
Thankful Thursdays

CANstruction

The results are in, but there's still more time to view the amazing CANstruction sculptures  while they are on display at the RXR Plaza in Uniondale. The Island's most creative food drive brings together engineers, designers, students, and professionals to compete in a creative food drive.

Each team constructed a structure from donated canned goods and then raced the clock to finish it in time. At the end, we had 10 amazing structures that defined generosity and creativity. The show is open to the public until November 26. Stop by with some donations of your own and bring the whole family.

Will Sing For Food

Once again, Long Island Cares, Inc., The Harry Chapin Food Bank in cooperation with supermarket chains on Long Island, is proud to participate in its  26th Annual Check-Out Hunger® campaign that will run from October-January. Our retail partners run the campaign at varying times over the four-month period, and shoppers can donate whenever they see the Check-Out Hunger® displays.

On Long Island, the current participating retailers are:

King Kullen (October 1 -- December 31)
Wild By Nature (October 1 -- December 31)
ShopRite (October 21 --January 1)
IGA Fort Salonga Market, Larkfield, Greenport, & Southold (November 1 -- December 31)
Kings (October 1 -- January 1)
QuickChek (November 3 -- December 15)
PSK Foodtown of Hewlett and Ferreira Foodtown of New Hyde Park (October 6 -- January 4)

If you'd like to make a donation during this campaign, simply tear off a $1, $3, or $5 coupon and hand it to the cashier to add a donation onto your bill. 100% of the donations collected in Nassau and Suffolk counties will be donated to Long Island Cares to assist the 270,000 Long Islanders who struggle with food insecurity every day.
